The Australian edition of GQ magazine has responded to Dustin Lance Black’s accusations of homophobia.

Last week, the openly gay film director said the publication was guilty of outdated “lies, myths and stereotypes” about gay people.

Black’s anger stemmed from a recent interview with Twilight actor Taylor Lautner. The magazine asked Lautner whether Black and director Gus Van Sant, who is also gay, had come on to him at a recent dinner.

Black accused the magazine of leaning on the “scurrilous, outdated stereotype that gay men are by nature sexual predators” and said the piece was an attack on his character.

In response, GQ posted on its Facebook page: “We’ve seen some of the comments floating around regarding our recent interview with Taylor Lautner and apologise if anyone was offended by anything in the article.

“It certainly wasn’t our intention to paint anyone in the story as a sexual predator. The point we were actually trying to push was that Taylor is irresistible to virtually everyone – regardless of sexuality or gender.”
