Lady Gaga dedicated a performance at the weekend to a 14-year-old fan who killed himself after suffering homophobic bullying.

Jamey Rodemeyer, of Buffalo, New York, was buried yesterday. Before he died last week, he posted an online tribute to the singer and thanked her for “all you have done” for gay rights.

Gaga, who performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, paused before performing her song ‘Hair’.

She told the crowd: “I just wanted to take a moment because we lost a little monster this week.

“Jamey, I know you’re looking down on us and you’re not a victim, you’re a lesson to all of us.”

The student, from Williamsville North High School, had suffered taunts and harassment about his sexual orientation.

Messages were left on his personal blogs urging him to commit suicide and calling him fat, gay and ugly.

Amherst Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is considering charging three students with hate crimes or harassment.

Gaga said last week that she hopes to meet President Barack Obama to discuss the problem of homophobic bullying.
