    Alabama school backs down over student’s gay rights t-shirt 475

    5:33 PM — A school in the US state of Alabama has backed down after telling a student she could not wear a gay rights t-shirt. Sara Couvillon, a student at Hoover High School in Birmingham, threatened school officials with legal action when she was told not to wear the shirt for her own safety.

    11:28 AM — A London rickshaw driver has been cleared of raping a lesbian doctor. Murat Durmus, 23, of Walthamstow, said the pair had consensual sex after he drove her home from a night out on February 5th.

    10:30 AM — A mistrial was declared yesterday in the case of a US teenager accused of murdering a gay classmate. Jurors deliberating charges against 17-year-old Brandon McInerney could not decide whether he was guilty of first or second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter.
