East Lancashire’s first gay Pride festival has been postponed until next year.

Organisers of Burnley Pride said it had been “too adventurous” to plan the event in time for September.

Instead, an organising committee has been formed with a view to holding the event next year.

Deb Bradshaw, chair of the Lancashire LGBT Group and one of the organisers, told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It would have been a little bit too adventurous to have got it up and running this year.

“But plans for next year are now going well. There is a full organising committee in place.

“It is likely to be held at the back end of next May, possibly on the bank holiday weekend.”

Organisers are looking for bands and performers for the event.

A fundraising event will be held on Friday September 9th. For more information, see here.
