  1. Lahm: I would fear that he could end up like Justin Fashanu who after he outed himself was driven into such a corner that he ended up committing suicide.

In my view, the BBC should be doing much more to combat homophobia amongst young people in Britain.

In addendum to this article, it’s worth noting that Lahm has a reputation for standing up for gay rights, which is why a lot of German football fans struggle to accept that he’s straight.

Trouble is while most other sports are starting ot embrace it’s LGBT players/team mates football remains a homophobic sport and the longer that goes on the worse it will get.

  4. Why do homosexuals feel the need to declare their sexual preference by outing themselves. I havenever had to out my self as a heterosexual but then again i have never hidden it either. perhaps if the gay brigade stopped hiding their sexual preferences, they would not need to ‘out’ themselves!

    1. Keith Lynwood 30 Aug 2011, 12:58pm

Please change your username , I don’t want anybody confusing us.

    2. Why do confused closeted bigots like you feel the need to leave homophobic comments on gay news websites? That would be a more relevant question for you to answer.

      1. A more relevant point is that if a gay footballer enters into a serious committed relationship then their sexuality is almost bound to become public knowledge, simply because one does not normally hide these things.

The same applies even more if you enter into a civil partnership or civil marriage – as you can in several European countries.

So it seems to me that those who advise gay people in certain professions not to come out, whether they will us good or ill, are in effective saying that you should make do with fleeting clandestine relationships (at best).

This is not an option that most straight people would find acceptable.

        Neither should gay people.

Strange how on a gay comments web site, your name has the highest number of posts!!

      Curious that, is it not?

      1. Only of you think that it is curious that an exterminator is normally where the pests are, metaphotically speaking.

        1. Dave North 30 Aug 2011, 3:02pm

You really are a disgusting individual aren’t you.

Surprising that you were not aborted before birth.

        2. If you are going to “attempt” wit, if that is what you call it, at least ensure that you spell it correctly.

It only servers to make you look more stupid than we already know you are.

            And before anyone says anything…..

            …. Touché …..

            Petard, meet Hoist…

his suggestion is not a solution to the problem of homophobia in football, we need more visible gay players and strict penalties to tackle this problem

    Peeps
    -
Can we please do something about Keith.
    -
PinkNews are unwilling to sort but we have to recognise this person hijacks the stories and stops us debating the issues so that he can try and force us to Be the debate to satisfy his sick hatred, homophobia hunger.
    -
I admit, I am as guilty, I got sucked up but I do see that his actions are destructive to this site and his agenda is only to stop us debating the issues of the day.
    -
We are not up for debate peeps, we are here and very much present and some people just need to get over it and deal with it.
    -
Please can we come up with a plan together to deal with continuous bigotted creeps like Keith that we can all agree on.
    -
Thank you and sorry to divert from the story at hand.

    1. Dr Robin Guthrie 30 Aug 2011, 3:13pm

I’m thinking about contacting gay friendy advertisers in the PN informing them of PN’s reluctance to weed out this abusive, homophobic dangerous individual.

It is clearly going to lose them audience as I, like others have stated, find myself reluctant to read any of the stories / comments due to this sick creep.

He is now stating that his “Domestos” avatar is to exterminate germs.

      We being the germs.

      1. Jock S. Trap 30 Aug 2011, 3:26pm

Yep, caught on to that when his avatar went up. That a person can have such hatred and try and continue to disrupt these thread by putting us on some kind of stand for him to judge.
        -
I myself was ready to quit over this but another narrow-minded personal attack changed my mind so now we need to act together.
        -
We don’t need this crap and either PinkNews want this site for the LGBTQI people it is supposed to represent or it doesn’t.
        -
Thing is who is going to deal with it? PinkNews or Us? We could start the ball rolling.

      2. As a nurse, you should be aware of the importance of hygiene!

        1. Dr Robin Guthrie 30 Aug 2011, 3:48pm

          Go away.

As far as I am concerned you no longer exist on these forums.

    2. edwarddwoodjr 30 Aug 2011, 3:24pm

Totally agree. And the same for “paddywurds” or whatever that idiot’s name is. I must admit however, that I find it amusing that purposely posting hateful comments is some form (probably the only form) of amusement they can find. Could be the closet door is locked, or no real person in their lives want to deal with them. There are so many pathetic reasons for doing what they do, that maybe we should just feel pity. Sad, lonely, unhappy people. One of them will prove it after this post…

      1. Jock S. Trap 30 Aug 2011, 3:36pm

Ideally I would prefer one name, one email but I realise PinkNews don’t have the money for that however they do need to act.
        -
Paddyswurds is different, he usually does contribute to a point and well but does go off the rails on occasion, I agree. Either way he adds a different argument to situation whereas Keith just wants to be judge, jury and hangman here and only debate about us.
        -
Your summing up though is accurate on why people do act like bigots.
        -
We need a plan we can all follow, no matter how much he pushes. Ignoring, collectively could be an option. It certainly would show that we work well as a community.
        -
Of course PinkNews acting would be a far better option but it seems there’s little chance of that so we have little choice but to take action ourselves.

    3. I feel sorry for Keith. And when I see his comments they make me feel better, because they make me realise how sane I am. It’s like when you see someone who is homeless or less fortunate than you, you realise how lucky you are. Keith must be so screwed up coming on here leaving the comments he does. Poor fella. I think it’s best to either ignore him or try and help him realise how deluded and fukced up he is. He obviously needs help. My suspicions are that he is a gay guy who hates being gay. And so therefore takes it out on readers of pink news. I think I will ignore him in future.

      1. Do my comments cause you to uderstand that just because two adults consent to a sex act, it does not mean it is a moral act. Sometimes, consenting adults do disgusting, perverted, unnatural and downright immoral acts. Do you accept this or is sexual immorality an alien concept to you?
Cue ten lines of wibble, burble, frothing at mouth, hompobic bigot accusations blah blah, hate etc…but notice that the question will always be avoided!

        1. Eddy - from 2007 30 Aug 2011, 4:39pm

Deluded individual “Keith” wrote: “Do my comments cause you to understand that just because two adults consent to a sex act, it does not mean it is a moral act.”

Keith clearly has no understanding of morality and its origins. One can only suspect that for him all morality derives from that pile of silly invention written by simple and deluded desert folk 2000 years ago.

Poor little Keith. He should perhaps shake a little of his Domestos over his eyes so that the scales might fall off and he might begin to see beyond his religious delusions.

          1. So iis there ANY sexually immoral act that two consenting can commit?

          2. @Eddy.
            Do you agree with this:-

“Sometimes, consenting adults do disgusting, perverted, unnatural and downright immoral acts. ?”
Please no wibbling and burnling. Just answer the question,.yes or no.

        2. dont worry keith, evolution will finally catch up with, u know, u will be able to develop additional gray cell or two, and if u try very hard u might even improve ur IQ to and beyond 20

          1. I think u (sic) are the one that needs to evolve, starting with the English language!

        3. if the participants are engaging in a risk-aware consensual fashion, then there’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing.
personal kinks differ. you might find something gross which turns others on – it’s okay to find some things disgusting, it’s nothing you can really control. this is however NO base to police others upon. if no one’s getting harmed, if you simply don’t like it: don’t get engaged with it, don’t look at it. what others do – especially when they get intimate – is simply none of your business.

      2. Dr Robin Guthrie 30 Aug 2011, 4:39pm

I’m doing this also. Keith “who”?

      3. @ Uh Oh: he’s also positively obsessed with trying to get people to justify father-son incest, have you noticed? Regardless of what the news item he’s commenting on is about. Deeply, deeply creepy.

    4. “Can we please do something about Keith.”

Yes just shut up and ignore him. He’ll get bored and f off

  7. I think Philipp Lahm is an utter fool.

Clearly there is no longer any risk for a football player to come out.

If a football player was to come out then I would expect him to have the full support of the FA; the club’s management and his fellow team mates (and seeing as the FA claims to be gay-friendly I would expect instant dismissals of ANYONE who engaged in homophobic activity or name-calling within the FA).

Also I would expect a lifetime ban to be given to any football fan who engages in homophobic abuse on the terrace.

Unless the FA commits to this then the FA is the actual reason why a footballer stays in the closet.

Unfortunately it would appear that the FA in Britain (and indeed Germany) is institutionally homophobic if these players like Lamm are allowed to make their nonsensical claims,

Has the FA in England confirmed that Britain will not be participating in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 unless Qatar has decriminalised homosexuality by that time.

    If not then why not

    1. “Has the FA in England confirmed that Britain will not be participating in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 unless Qatar has decriminalised homosexuality by that time.

      If not then why not”

      Erm…

      Let’s see…

      Oh yeah money!

  8. The fact that Pink News claims to be a news website but that it routinely allows all discussion threads to be hijacked by homophobes like Keith (coupled with the fact that of late most Pink News stories are being ‘sourced’ / plagiarised from US based websites indicates to me that Pink News is in financial trouble

(Althiough would it be any wonder seeing as how PN completely ignores homophobia in its comments page)/.

  9. Eddy - from 2007 30 Aug 2011, 4:35pm

Mr. Lahm views the worst possible scenario and fears that “bullied gay players could be driven to kill themselves”.

Where would ANYBODY in the world be in terms of human progress if they cringed like cowards out of FEARS about what MIGHT be.

  10. Assuming for a moment that Lahm is 100% straight, what right does he have to tell ga people what they should or shouldn’t do? Do gay men say to hetero men: “Tell your mother about each of your sexual experiences with your 17 year old girlfriend” or “When you cheat on your wife, be sure to tell her about it so she won’t be angry when she finds the credit card bill for the prostitute”? Does he also tell catholics “Stand up in Sunday mass and tell your priest to stop fondling kids”? If he’s supportive of gays, great; his public pronouncements on gays beig out or closeted don’t help anybody.

  11. Gay Daily Mail Reader 31 Aug 2011, 7:09am

Unfortunately football does attract undesirables and far-right groups have recruited members from football crowds. Just look at the difficulties that black players have suffered – remember the disgusting monkey noises made by Spanish fans during a game with England every time a black player took pocession of the ball – and Spain is one of the most gay friendly countries. It’s up to gay players whether or not they out themselves but in doing so they could be subject to a
hostile reception from small but vocal minority of fans.
