In before fundie scaremongers claim that a quarter of all marriages in the US are gay because they want to “destroy our way of life” or something equally nonsensical.
Pity, we can’t have Same Sex Marriage here in the UK, and what is the position of Married Same-Sex couples from America here in the UK? Will these be recognised by UK government and entry allowed for holiday and educational studies, etc.
But foreign same sex marriages cannot have a Civil Partnership in the UK as they would not have a valid UK home address. Perhaps one should always have their Same-Sex Marriage Certificate to hand. When staying in hotels in England we have been asked for sight of our Civil Partnership certificate, which we keep on our person.

Yes – “They want to destroy the institution of marriage!” By … erm … getting married.
Well done and excellent news :-)
This is to be expected as there is obviously a very large backlog of same sex marriages to perform.
I expect that within a year this figure will have settled to a more realistic percentage.
Meanwhile, same-sex marriage in the UK, 0%, ongoing.

Reiterating what Peter and Michael said above. Does anyone know if getting married in NY would mean anything in UK. I would love to get married in NY.
I don’t know about NY specifically, but foreign same sex marriages are ‘reclassified’ to a CP in the UK.
So a gay UK citizen marrying abroad would have their marriage treated as a CP on their return to the UK – which is offensive.

Says alot. Seems the LGBTQI may save marriage after all. :)
