Hear hear! I now have a ‘sister’ who I have known for over a decade because she was honest with me. I never explicitly told her I was Bi-, but she worked it out for herself. I really liked her and we used to go out for drinks, etc.
When I wanted to take things further she told me she had fancied me too, but both of us having come out of long relationships I needed time to think about what I really wanted.
When she got engaged, out of all her friends she asked ME to help her pick the dress rather than her siblings or female friends. If we HAD dated it would inevitably gone wrong and ended in animosity and resentment.

Anne is so great. Her family were all catholics until their church started ranting about how bad gays were that they all left the church and became Episcopalians.
