‘Homophobe’ is a word as loathsome as the thing it purports to describe. It is neither of Greek nor Latin root and has been dredged up by a journalist in need of a harmless alternative to the more truthful and powerful ‘queer-bashing’ or, if ‘queer’ is considered old-fashioned, ‘gay-bashing.’ I’ve been asking the following question for a while now and have yet to get a satisfactory reply: Do arachnophobes murder spiders?

  3. GOProud – I would invite the members to look up the term “Uncle Tom”, it is what they are. Nothing but spineless, craven little self-haters desperate to be “liked” by the right wing christofascist hatemongers and oblivious to the fact that it just isn’t going to happen. They are tolerated so they can be exploited and are too thick to realise it.

        2. Having listened to that debate I saw an attack by two people because David attempted to discuss issues based on historical evidence. All they saw was the “black culture” comment and assumed racism and refused to allow him to talk about the issue. He was clearly trying to point out that certain cultural traits were being promoted as good, such as gang violence. Those traits have roots in the undesirable elements of both black AND white culture. Of course the rest of the panel, and the BBC presenter heard the words black and Enoch and branded him racist, which shows a complete lack of understanding and total unwillingness to discuss the issues. Owen Jones actually paraphrased him accurately and nothing was said.
I have spent my life fighting against racism, homophobia and persecution in general, and idiots like this don’t help the cause.

      Addendum…
…now that I know better who GOProud are, thanks to Mumbo Jumbos link above, i am not in the slightest mystified, confused or frankly surprised. GOProud are a tiny breakaway group from Log Cabin Republicans, who, when they found that they couldn’t manipulate Log Cabin to their self loathing ends , broke away and set up GOProud.
What they are is a group of republicans who in an effort to demean the gay agenda, pretended to be for all intents and purposes Gay They are totally against anything any selfrespecting GLB organisation should be supporting. A Republican mouthpiece that are rolled out by the GOP whenever Fox News or CNN wanted a “gay” response, particularly if they wanted a “gay” response to any inititive Obama might propose and are dedicated to Obamas removal at any cost including Gay self respect. So no surprise then that they have appointed this plastic enhanced harridan to their “board” that would have to go out in the street to find a quorum, they are so tiny .

Is this a case of mutual attention seeking by both GOProud and Ann Coulter?

On the one hand the gay political group has lately found it difficult to reconcile the two causes it stands for, its message has therefore been confused and sidelined, and it now thinks it can boost itself by hiring a famous mouthpiece who doesn’t mince words.

On the other hand Ann Coulter might be looking for a new platform on which she can spread her bile. Being called some sort of gay icon might help her back into the limelight if she’s not been getting the attention she thinks she deserves.

Given that most definitions of this group appear to suggest that the group may “fight for the gays” by name, it is simply a patsy group set up to look good yet do nothing.
