Student in gay suicide case wants charges dismissed
4:57 PM — Lawyers for a student accused over the suicide of his gay roommate say the charges against him should be dismissed and that prosecutors withheld evidence. A third of US workers have health benefits for gay partners 2
4:24 PM — Around a third of workers in the US have access to health benefits for gay partners, research shows. According to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 33 per cent of state and local government employees can get same-sex partner benefits. For private sector workers, the figure was 29 per cent.

US to look again at gay blood donation ban 2
2:00 PM — The US Department of Health and Human Services is to look again at the lifetime blood donation ban for men who have had gay sex. The department said yesterday that the current policy is "sub-optimal" and announced it has instructed advisors to study whether the strict rules can be relaxed.

Italy rejects anti-homophobia bill 127
9:49 AM — Italy's parliament has rejected a bill to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people from discrimination. The Chamber of Deputies voted yesterday 293 votes to 250 not to approve the legislation.
