    4:24 PM — Around a third of workers in the US have access to health benefits for gay partners, research shows. According to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 33 per cent of state and local government employees can get same-sex partner benefits. For private sector workers, the figure was 29 per cent.

    2:00 PM — The US Department of Health and Human Services is to look again at the lifetime blood donation ban for men who have had gay sex. The department said yesterday that the current policy is "sub-optimal" and announced it has instructed advisors to study whether the strict rules can be relaxed.

    11:06 AM — Michigan's Supreme Court has refused to hear a child custody case involving two lesbians. The court said there was no evidence that a review is necessary in the case of Renee Harmon and her former partner Tammy Davis.

    9:49 AM — Italy's parliament has rejected a bill to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people from discrimination. The Chamber of Deputies voted yesterday 293 votes to 250 not to approve the legislation.
