  1. Unfortunately nothing yet on the BBC about this. There was, however, an online report about gay divorce a couple of days ago – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-14244012

    1. @ dave: There’s some good coverage in the Guardian:

  2. Congratulations of GLBTQ New Yorkers. I hear that Governor Cuomo, who was behind the push for equality, currently has an EIGHTY percent approval rating in the State. And hey, GLBTQ folk are marrying and the sky has not fallen and the seas have not boiled…imagine that…

  3. Yes, I noticed that Dave, not a word from the BBC. Meanwhile, we in the UK languish over full marriage equality. What ever happened to that supposed consultation announced by Lynne Featherstone last February. Was it just a rumour. I’ve seen nothing in the papers and certainly nothing from StonewallUK.

    1. She has to announce something this week on the consultation otherwise the govt fails the July deadline……it will probably come around 5pm on Friday just before they all go on holidays until October ! Who knows whether they’ll ever put an end date on it though….

I think Stonewall did a mock question/reply questionnaire when they submitted their consultation on “religious” CPs response…

That last line in the article is a bit meaningless, isn’t it? I know what they’re getting at but the UK doesn’t have a state/fed system..

      1. Robert J Brown 24 Jul 2011, 6:41pm

Stonewall did a ‘non consultation’ on same sex marriage simply asking financial contributors only what they thought were their priorities over the next few years!

Only financial contributors were given the opportunity to respond in a numbering exercise!

        1. Rob – here’s Stonewall’s mock consultation response on marriage equality which I guess they put out there to kick the govt up the ass a bit, it’s a mock response to the July 2011 consultation..

          http://www.stonewall.org.uk/documents/extension_of_marriage_stonewall_response_1.pdf

    2. The so-called ‘consultation’ is merely a tactic to convince us they’re doing something.

      1. I thought it was so that Cameron could say he “considered” same sex marriage and then on reflexion and after listening carefully to all “stakeholders” ( ie the CofE and the right in his party) to decide to put if off for a few more yrs, perhpas after the next election , when another conusltation might take place on the “future of CPs” and so on…….

        1. The LibDems have promised marriage by 2015. They must already have negotiated this with the Conservatives otherwise they wouldn’t have made such an explicit promise to LGBT voters.

          1. “must have already have negotiated this with the” cons???? I don’t see this at all, the coaltion govt have NOT promised anything of the sort….The Tories make up the majoirty of the govt, not the lib dems. If they want marriage equality then as far as I see it , it’s up to them to introduce a private bill and get as many MPs from all parties on board..

the only forthcoming events on marriage equality that I’m aware of are:
            1) Consultation on it due this week!
            2) Lynne Featherstone replying in may/june to Gilbert in a PQ that a discussion with interested parties will happen over the summer..

  4. God bless all gay marriages and all gay people, remember God loves you all because God made all gays to be born gay in the world with straights to love one another. Free at lat free at last to marry the ones you love in America, Have a Blessed Life.

    1. Paddyswurds 24 Jul 2011, 8:07pm

      @Chris…
…just how deluded are you with the whole “god” thing. Were it not for the fantasy pixie in the sky fiction we would not have had to fight so hard for equality. The whole Abrahamic cult fiction fantasy is what is holding the whole World back, then you have the nut cases like the dude in Norway who killed all those Norwegian kids just because there were too many Muslims getting into Norway!!!

      1. Who are you calling a pixie? Don’t blame me sunbeam.

    2. Chris, thank you for your loving words and please ignore Paddy, just because he thinks gay automatically means atheist does not mean the rest of us do.

  5. Rich (original) 24 Jul 2011, 7:31pm

    I am very sad…..

    1. Paddyswurds 24 Jul 2011, 8:01pm

      @Rich…
…we have all been trying to tell you that for a long long time.

    2. Yes, Rich you are very sad, we’ve all known you are very sad for a long time, glad you’ve realised it yourself atlong last.

    3. Jock S. Trap 25 Jul 2011, 7:58am

      Excellent! Now go jump!

Gay happiness with governmental registration of perverts marriages will ends when Muslims start colonization of Europe and America, and, using democratic system of election, will take the powers of western world under Islamic control. God willing, we, Muslims, will conquer Western world with our Islamic children and women in the future and we will end homosexual politics permanently.

    1. Ben Foster 25 Jul 2011, 6:39am

Yes, you said it already. You’re very sad!!!! We get it.

(is this guy for real or is it the Pink News equivalent of Alf Garnett being rude for comic effect?)

      1. What you wrote in brackets Ben (IMO).
It’s either for real or it’s a Poe, it’s impossible to write a parody of fundamentalism that won’t be mistaken for the real thing, Rich is too intent on making Muslims look foolish for him to be real though.

        1. He’s no Muslim, he’s that EDL troll.

          1. Sarky Bugger 25 Jul 2011, 1:52pm

            Niiiiiiice, a skinhead in leather!

    2. Jock S. Trap 25 Jul 2011, 10:20am

  12. Yihaa this is such good news for the whole of the LGBT Community and especially for the State of New York and other gay friendly states. This is indeed a momentous day and a day that brought tears of joy to my eyes. Now it is Europe’s turn or rather those European states that are still a bit backward and slow on the uptake. Congratulations to each and every GLBT couple who got married yesterday. It is wonderful and beautiful :-)))) Thanks be to God.

  13. Jock S. Trap 25 Jul 2011, 7:56am

Excellent news – a good reason to Party New York!!

PS.. wonder if anyone noticed the New York part of Niagara Falls lit up? – Just kiddin – lovely jubbly!

    1. The nice thing is that the day marriage became legal in NY State the falls were illuminated with a rainbow. Unfortunately no one in the State of NY could see the rainbow because the American falls can only be viewed from the Canadian side of the Niagara river. The fact that there are many tourist from around the world who would have seen this beautiful representation of love and diversity. Many people gay and straight will take home photo’s and video memories of this historic day to share with family and friends. One can only hope the memory and emotions the sight evoked will one day help win and influence the hearts and minds in countries and make LGBT marriage legal around the world.

      1. I also hope that the youth of today will realize the importance of today today to each and every couple who united in marriage. Many couples in their 80’s were finally able to be be legally united in marriage, where as by the time LGBT today’s youth get to their 80’s they will have been able to celebrate decades of happy marriage.

    2. Ah yes, Jock. The colorful Niagara Falls. Just another one of those subtle touches we Americans are known for.

      :)

      1. Jock S. Trap 26 Jul 2011, 3:21am

Yep, but sad that no American will see it, Just Canadians who’ll think where have you been, glad you caught up!

        1. @ Dana and Jock.

The irony is that it is we the Canadians who illuminate the falls… and from the Canadian side. for both the American and Horseshoe falls.

  14. Islam permits polygamy, up to four wives at a time, illegal in western countries and according to Mohammed, permits sex with underage girls 9one of his wives was only 9 years old). Therefore, Rich is a pervert and a supporter of paedophilia. He’s not just sad, but he’s sick and so is his cult.

    1. Your fake dialogue with yourself or your co – troll to turn a happy story into a diatribe wont work.

  15. 10thousandCouples 25 Jul 2011, 4:22pm
