  1. Truly amazing that we don’t have one single British celebrity doing the same as Larry King, not one. If it weren’t for a lot of straight celebrities supporting it, marriage equality in New York state might not have happened. We need the same support in the UK to light a fire under Cameron’s Tory foot-dragging lazy arse.

  3. Enoch, our celebrities just don’t get it, do they? They have to be shamed into doing anything I suppose but I suspect they just don’t care because it doesn’t affect them. They take their full equality for granted and don’t have to think twice about it.

Comparing British celebrities to US celebrities on this matter is a tad harsh. The reason why so many celebrities in the UK take part in this campaign is because it’s a constant social issue in the USA, so it’s something that is relevant and raises their profile. In the UK however, gay marriage is never really a massive social issue because of the fact that most people believe it is already in place, and that opposition to it is relatively small in comparison. In essence celebrities in the UK don’t do these shots because the demand just isn’t there.

Why do we not have the same campaign here? It does seem strange.

If celebrities believe that same-sex marriage is already in place then that only goes to show how disaffected they really are. How is it American celebrities and the American public can distinguish between a civil union (partnership) and a civil marriage for same-sex couples? British celebrities must be ill-informed or totally ignorant. There’s absolutely NO excuse to not be proactive, especially since New York’s recent success.

Maybe the phantom consultation that is supposed to take place heaven knows when will wake them up out of their deep, indifferent slumber.

Because we don’t have the same huge anti gay, hate-fuelled campaigns of misinformation over here, except in the Daily Mail, and to most people it’s just not an issue.

This jerk has been married 8 times and is the last person who would know what marriage — either hetero or homo should be viewd. Guy’s got serious psychological/personality problems and should stick to being a radio host, not commenting on interpersonal relationships.
