Queer as folk was never cancelled, Davies had said he reluctantly wrote QAF part 2 because channel 4 wanted more episodes.

  2. Cucumber – very subtle.

  3. RTD spoke in the past about that he was considering writing a series about gay men in their 40s who are envious of the younger generation of gay men who could just be themselves at a much earlier age and not have their teenage years denied them. I kind of hope that he still explores this idea as it could be interesting.

  4. I’m 22 and it takes me by surprise how open teenagers are these days with sexuality. I would watch a show of you get and older gay men and how they don’t fit together in the modern gay culture. Would be a sad tale of vanity and shallowness.

Going by title im not sure how serious this show is but I think I he made it very accurate to real life it would be a good watch.

Right now tho I’m more interested in Torchwwod next thursday.

  5. QAF Series 2 in the UK was just awful. UK Series 1 was amazing and Seasons 1-5 of USA was brilliant! I’m looking forward to this. It’s all very well having gays in EastEnders and Corrie but I want a show just for the gays :D

    1. Seconded regarding British QAF. In terms of script, acting, characterisation, production values, you name it, American QAF knocked the spots off the British show. We need to try harder!

  6. Maybe he could write something that doesn’t make us look like sex obsessed, paedo drug addicts.. To much to ask?

    1. Damn you beat me to it!! I HATED Queer as Folk if I’m honest, although the UK version was better than the American one but only slightly!

Will I watch a new series written by him about gay men? I very much doubt it. I’ll take a hell of a lot for me to forgive him for QAF……not even Dr Who managed that although I prefer his time in charge to the current one.

The trouble is, if he were to make it realisitic, people like me wouldnt bother watching it because it just drags the rest of us down to that level.
We have just gone from one stereotype to another, from John Inman and Larry Grayson, to a bunch of sex-mad pervs that shag anything with a pulse.
I really think it’s about time we got some ordinary shows with ordinary people that just happen to be gay. How about Spooks, or Sherlock, or God forbid, Downton Abbey. Maybe then people might start accepting us as normal human beings instead of what the media keep foisting on everyone.

  7. Welcome back QAF, not that you have ever left. 40 somethings? Get out of your armchair and get a life. Maybe it is time you contribute to gay scene not just take. There is massive pleasure in that. And youngsters need a bit of guidance and role models. Being 40-50 walking hand in hand trough your town centre is very educational. Not just for gay population. We can all contribute to better future by expressing ourselves NOW! Youngsters might have early sex but we need to show them long term love.

How can I put this? BIG FAT HAIRY BOLLOCKS.
Youngsters treat anybody over the age of 25 as dirty old men and look at them like they just crawled out from under a rock. The only time they are interested is when they happen to have a fat wallet.
Why should I contribute ANYTHING to the gay scene? It’s just full of shallow, conceited, selfish, egotistical wankers. I would rather live alone and away from all that crap than have to associate myself with such a den of inequity.
As I have said many times before, there is no “gay community”, merely a bunch of self-centred people that happen to be going in the same direction. And before some leftie twat comes out with the usual “self-loathing” comment, I will point out I am perfectly happy, well balanced and have no problems with my sexuality. it’s just all those tossers that purport to represent me that I despise.

  8. Cucumber ? Very subtle indeed. Why not name it “Sausage” and market it as “a very meaty show” ?
