Didn’t Chris Bryant claim he ‘flipped’ his second home due to Homophobia?

  2. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:15pm

here we are, the story showing his crass opportunism. One wonders if the same thing is happening here:

    1. Ok, so on another thread you accused me of transphobia. Yet you’ve criticised this guy for being gay?

Perhaps you want to get your own house in order with your homophobia before you accuse other of being transphobic you co*k

      1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 7:24pm

I criticised him for using Homophobia to get out of a sticky situation.

Not quite the same thing is it?

      2. Read the article that theotherone has posted for you carefully and what he has said.
This is what gets me about gay activists, when we criticize the wrong doings of the gay elite/ruling class they jump up and down and claim homophobia.
Just to let you know, there are gays that are also heavily involved in corruption and shady business.

        1. pepa is an anti-gay-sex activist here simply to troll.

        2. Pepa

It appears you counter any attack any allegation of homophobia connected to attacks on gay people in power as being wrong. The reality is that there are some people who happen to be gay in power, and some criticism of those in power will be homophobic (not all but some).
I fully accept that there have been questions about Bryants expenses (as with most MPs in the UK at the time – not just the gay ones!). – he has explained them and paid back a small portion and faced no disciplinary action as a result of a review by the independent body – unlike others who were referred to police and imprisoned.
There are some gays who are corrupt – as there are some right wing Christians who are also corrupt …
Then there are people (like Pepa) whose ideas are just corrupt …

        3. Jock S. Trap 12 Jul 2011, 3:15pm

Oh pepa, something tells me they need to up your dosage luv.

  3. Crass opportunism? They were genuine homophobic attacks, the police were involved and it was they who advised him to move! Why don’t you have any sympathy from someone suffering from homophobic attacks? Chris Bryant has done a lot of good work for the country and for the gay community. He survived his brush with scandal and he shouldn’t be too depressed about the picture of him in his pants having got into the papers; he looked alright in his pants!

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:24pm

Crying Homophobia to get off with stealing tax payer’s money is not, in my view, doing ‘ a lot of good work for the country and for the gay community.’

      1. Rashid Karapiet 13 Jul 2011, 3:47pm

—and you’ll continue to believe the earth is flat, splendid individualist that you clearly are. Get a real life…

    2. Well said! If there were more Chris Bryants the world would be a better and nicer place! FACT!!!

      1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:31pm

yes, there would be more people lieing, stealing and then screaming Homophobia to get out of it.

    3. He could’ve got himself some better pants though.

      1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:40pm

You would think he could what with all those dodgy expenses.

        1. Those tighty whiteys are probably an heirloom from his days as a priest…

    4. Well said, Bryant may have made errors with his expenses (I havent checked recently), but regardless that does not and never will justify any form of homophobia – and the fact there were police investigations and they gave recommendations of a move demonstrate the shallow attempts to under mine Bryant from theotherone (are they related to Brooks, Murdoch or do they just hate Labour, or gays?)
Bryant looked very good in his pants – just could have been better pants at the time …

      1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 7:26pm

oh that will be why he claimed mortgage repayments on the place right?

He may well have been a victim of Homophobia but we where a victim of his greed.

      2. So if someone was experiencing uncomfortable personal attacks they are entitled to another personal space of their own paid for by the tax payers? In that case STU, I demand that the UK government put up another website like PN here just for me that I can control because I been personally attacked by you and your minions on these threads.

Or shall we tell Bryant what you told me and “get a thicker a skin?”

        1. pepa this thread isn’t about you and your anti-gay-sex activism.

          1. Of course because most of you sex addicts are hypocritical… of course this is isn’t about me. That’s the point. It isn’t about you either. It’s not about any of us here as the gay political class doesn’t give a damn about gay people, its all about them and how they retain their power over us.
But you are too busy visiting public restrooms and dark parks to realize this.

        2. @Pepa
No, but an employer who has expenses rights for their employees including the reasonable costs associated with a second home have a duty of care (in UK law) towards the safety and security and well being of that employee (although its tenuous to an extent here in terms of the definition of employee for an MP in UK employment law – but there are still responsibilities of parliament to the MPs). Therefore, such a claim could be seen to be reasonable – but regardless, the UK parliamentary watchdog did not commence any disciplinary or criminal action …
As someone who lives in Arizona, I don’t believe the UK govt has any responsibility or need to acquiesce to your unreasonable and bigoted demands.
As for attacks Pepa, cry all you like – there is plpenty of evidence of you calling people rapists, paedophiles etc – your crass comments make me laugh – you make yiourself look a fool

          1. Not “crying” just pointing out your hypocrisy. I’m no the one demanding “tolerance” YOU are. I’m not one demanding that my sexuality be accepted by children, YOU are. I’m not the one who is demanding accommodation, YOU are. Your attacks against me just prove how much of a true HYPOCRITE you are STU. You demand all of these things but you REFUSE to give likewise to other people with different points of view. You’re not just attacking me because of my attacks on your hypocrisy and on the fact that your field IS IN FACT filled with pedophiles, child traffickers, drug addicts, and child rapists and masochists, but you also attack me for YOUR lack of discrediting the evidence I provide, and for the basic fact that I caught you and your pedophile enablers red handed.

        3. Jock S. Trap 12 Jul 2011, 3:17pm

          pepa, your a bore.

          1. Maybe if you actually respond to what I’m saying and engage in the information I provide but since your MO is to destroy me of course its a bore. You’re fighting someone you don’t even know.
            Yes, what a bore.

    5. @ Dromio.
I have been bullied by homophobic people as well. WHERE is my break? Why can’t the government pay for my house too?
I though you people were for “equality.”
You are NOT. You are for special treatment, especially those who are members of the elite.

      1. @Pepa
Bryant did the proper thing about the homophobia he experienced by reporting it to the police and only commenting about it in public after others mentioned it (to avoid contaminating the criminal investigation).
Bryant then explained his actions when criticised and the appropriate independent watchdog agreed no action needed to be taken against him.
You, throw horrendous insults around calling people rapists, paedophiles etc and then when people counter some of your bizarre arguments or comment on your lack of evidence you claim bullying or harassment – your actions and what you are about here is plain for anyone with intelligence to see. You are a fraud and an ignorant, obsessed one at that.

        1. I claim bullying and harassment to show your hypocrisy. Whenever somebody challenges you in any way you cry foul and homophobia and what not, but then you turn around and do show the same bigotry to others.
That’s what’s all about. You can harass me, name call me all you want, all you are doing is proving my point about your hypocrisy.
And once again, I have provide you with evidence of many things you say. You just don’t want to listen because you are bias and a bigoted christophobe with an agenda.

      2. Jock S. Trap 12 Jul 2011, 3:17pm

        Yawn, pepa = predictable.

        1. Speaking about predictability, isn’t this like your 45th “yawn” to me?

  4. “At which point Ross Kemp [the ex-EastEnders actor and her then husband] said, ‘Shut up, you homophobic cow’.”

    – Maybe this is why she domestically abused him (after her newspaper had run a campaign highlighting domestic violence, including that against men…)

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:41pm

did she do that? What a firking scum bag!

      1. Yep. Aaaand had a campaign against paedophiles which led to a paediatrician having his house attacked because people who read NOTW don’t understand the difference between a doctor and a child abuser. And some other literally ridiculous things, they’ve been reported in Private Eye amongst other publications.

        1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:50pm

          I looked it up.

I hated the woman before, I hate her more now.

          Firkin scum bag.

        2. I’m now only shocked that others are shocked by mass stupidity. I remember that, my cousin from Sweden was here asking are english people soo stupid , they do not know the difference between paedophile and paediatrician? this is from someone whose english is a secondary language.

          1. Assure your cousin *most* English people aren’t that stupid – only those dumb enough to regard the News of the World as a genuine newspaper.

          2. Jock S. Trap 12 Jul 2011, 3:19pm

I have to question why so many people would want to read such a scummy newspaper in the first place, let along because of the scummy people running it.

          3. @Jock S Trap

I must question the reasons why anyone would read any Murdoch paper or the Mail (I know they’re not Murdoch but you get my point)

  5. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 2:26pm

All MPs should be photographed in their underpants, so we can decide who’s fit for office.

    Funny way to spell Rebecca.

  6. Well surprise. Brooks is an evil slaaaag! What do you expect from ANYONE who worked on News of the World? I’m jumping for joy that these scumbags are jobless.

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:32pm

the scum bags like jobbing free-lancers, office staff and cleaners.

The evil buggers at the top are still in a job.

      1. Exactly. Although a lot of them might be able to get jobs on the 7-day Sun. And the magazine Fabulous is apparently being kept.

        1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:39pm

I doubt they will – they have sacrificed an entire work force to protect one woman.

I wonder what she’s got on ‘The Great Satan.’

      2. No. They’re ALL deserving. They knew what NOTW was before they got a job there. No excuses, and good riddance.

    2. Well surprise. Brooks is an evil slaaaag! What do you expect from ANYONE who worked on News of the World? I’m jumping for joy that these scumbags are jobless.
So much for “tolerance” huh, Enoch?

      1. Not surprised at Pepa jumping at a defence of someone who either endorsed and supported the hacking of mobile telephones of a murdered 12 year old schoolgirl, 7/7 victims, 9/11 victims, servicemen killed in action, celebrities, politicians, police officers etc (all illegal) – or at the very least failed to deal with it, failed to report illegality to the police and lied to parliament …
If that is activity that requires tolerance, Pepa – it says a great deal for your views on standards of corporate and individual responsibility ….

        1. Nice red-haring, but its not working. You attack bigots but then use that same language that they use. Pointing out how you just hate for the sake of hating.
No, I don’t tolerate hacking, but is seems weird coming from a person who defends corrupt politicians, the political class who are guilty for all the massacres on the planet, you are enabling war, (as you approved it in another post), murdering of innocent people in Libya, in Iraq, in Pakistan, in Yemen, you PRAISE the political class when they attack innocent people and take away their right to live. That’s what YOU are about, Stu. (BTW b4 you jump the gun, I’m using the same tactics of generalization that you, Will, and the smelly jockstrap use on me). Ball is on your court.

      2. Jock S. Trap 12 Jul 2011, 3:21pm

We seem to tolerate you pepa, so I guess we much have hearts of gold!

        1. Excuse me?
          LOL, what a farce.

  7. I don’t think we needed this story to know that Rebekah Brooks is a heartless scumbag. Its a shame its taken him so long to reveal this story.

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:34pm

I wonder why he never mentioned this before eh? Odd that…

      1. Because of the absurdly negative influence the Murdoch Press has over politics in the UK, I think many politicians genuinely feared for their career if they were to dare criticise News International (who would stopp to engaging in criminal activity to destroy someone).

Now that it’s been revealed what a thoroughly criminal company News International is and what a negative influence it has on British democracy, there will be more and more revelations about their appalling behaviour.

Rebekah Wade’s journalistic career is over by the way. Her scumbag employers are standing by her at the moment, but they’ll discard her soon to pretend that they are taking the situation seriously.

        1. Paddyswurds 8 Jul 2011, 8:29pm

….strange how this theotherone thing appears outta the woodwork whenever the Tories are under threat from scandal. Brooks is an ugly ridiculous looking scumbag who must go and face the full rigors of the law like the rest of the thrash from TNOTW and NI. Always knew there was an evil smell from that lot. This proves it.

          1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 10:28pm

and that coming from a Racist, Transphobic bully is surely shocking.

          2. what is shocking is that paddywurds and et al think that ALL the corruption can ONLY come from ONE side of the political spectrum.
            Simply naive.

          3. Paddyswurds 10 Jul 2011, 12:48pm

……and how exactly did you work that out. You know nothing of what I think of British Political parties. For a start I am Irish and British politics are merely a distraction. I do however exercise my right to comment as i see fit, just as you, an American do,no matter how inane your comments.
BTW where did i mention ALL the corruption or indeed corruption at all?

          4. you are insinuating that only the tories are involved in corruption, just read what happened in the expense scandal, ALL parties were involved.
and stop with this pissing competition of who is from where and who is entitled to say things on here. Its annoying. I already stated that this is a PUBLIC site where people can comment from all over the world. I thought that you gay sex activists were all about “multiculturalism” and all that B.S. I guess its all just a pile of a dog’s dinner.

      2. What a ridiculous, ill thought out and inane whinging comment that is theotherone – if you had any semblence of understanding you wouldnt need to ask … and I am sure it won’t be rhetorical – you’re not that subtle …

        1. Paddyswurds 10 Jul 2011, 12:51pm

…its therone, a pretend woman being troll because it’s bitter at the whole world, well except the Tories that is. Don’t feed it or it will start accusing you of all sorts.

  8. Are all Labour party conferences so refined?

  9. The News of the World is to close.

However I think that in about 2 weeks we’re going to be hearing about the launch of The Sunday Sun.

Rebekah Wade is a horrible cow. She was editor at the time that her newspaper were engaged in criminal activity. And she has engaged in domestic violence against her ex-husband.

I think that not only should she resign and be jailed, but that her boss – Rupert Murdochis prevented from buying BSkyB.

Allowing a sinister, non-resident billionaire such control over British media is deeply undemocratic.

Press freedom in Britain has been severely compromised by Murdoch and his sinister News International Group.

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:52pm

I think their days are numbered in the UK.

I read The Times and look forward to it being free of News International.

      1. Paddyswurds 9 Jul 2011, 12:35am

        …..YOU can read????

        1. typical empty comments from the gays sex activists.
          “YOU can read????”
I seen really stupid comments on here before, but this one tops it. Reflects more on the person posting it.

          1. pepa is an ant-gay-sex activist and troll.

          2. @ Pavlos,

Are you attempting to insult me?
LOL. Stupid gay sex activists. They think that they can manipulative the debate by calling me names…. oy vey…

          3. @Pepa

Empty comments – thats all you make, sunshine … .

Or call people made up labels, or call them rapists, or come up with twaddle about the corporate and gay elite

          4. @ Stu,
            Seems funny to you yes.
Its like telling a little kid that he has big booger sticking out of his nose, and laughs. He doesn’t realize how bad it looks on him and how disgusting it really looks.

    2. “Allowing a sinister, non-resident billionaire such control over British media is deeply undemocratic. ”

There’s nothing democtratic about newspaper ownership. What is democratic is our ability to buy ones with different emphases.

      1. The largest circulation daily broadsheet in Britain is The Times.
The largest circulation Sunday broadsheet in Britain is The Times.
The largest circulation daily tabloid in Britain is The Sun.
The largest circulation Sunday tabloid in Britain is The NOTW (soon to be the Sunday Sun) .
The largest cable channel in Britain is Sky

They are all News International titles and none of them have an indepedent editorial line. They all follow the far-right Rupert Murdoch agenda irrespective of whether it is good for Britain or not.

A press which is for the personal benefit of a non-resident billionaire is not a free press.

        Murdoch is scum!

  10. Absolutely vile woman. Please lock her up.

  11. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 2:52pm

    Is her hair on purpose?

    1. Paddyswurds 9 Jul 2011, 12:37am

      @Alf N Spit…
….. that haystack couldn’t possibly be real is it? Is she a tranny…..certainly looks like one.

  12. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 2:55pm

Does the fact that emails about illegal activities have only been disclosed for the period after Coulson took over from her mean that he has been selected as the fall guy to protect others at the top?

    1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 2:56pm

      it looks like it.

the latest claims is that Coulson tapped her phone.

  13. Is it because the News of the World has closed that all the trashy stories have got sent to Pink News??

  14. Chris Bryant is a nice bloke, and has shown real guts in campaigning against News international, something that is very dangerous for a politician to do.

    1. I’ve never been his biggest fan, but I have found new respect for him recently.

    2. I don’t usually follow his politics but I do think his integrity, attitude and tone have been spot on throughout this crisis – something of a statesman about him and tom watson …

  15. James Incer 8 Jul 2011, 3:01pm

    That’s not homophobic, that’s funny.

    1. it’s homophobic and even her ex says that

      1. no its not.

    2. No, it’s not.

    3. Chris Bryant clearly perceived it as homophobic and I don’t really see it as funny … groanworthy, playground tactics and the actions of a bully who thinks she is beyond reach

  16. Staircase2 8 Jul 2011, 3:17pm

    About bloody time too!
Although all thats really happening is a brand name change – The Sun is now supposedly going to be running 7 days a week. I expect that the same staff will still run the Sunday paper too.
Not sure if NOTW and The Sun are separate legal entities or not – if they are this would be a meisterstroke to avoid any further legal comeback following the recent (and probably further) revelations.
What’s interesting to me is that this has come at exactly the wrong time for Murdoch in his bid to take over BSkyB – which leads me to suspect that someone somewhere has decided to stop protecting him/them.
None of this is really ‘news’ in the real sense – all of use knew that the NOTW were a bunch of scumbags who did these sorts of underhanded and despicable things all along.
Which begs the question: who is powerful enough to benefit from the breaking down of Murdoch’s Empire? Who are the rebel forces, young Skywalker?
Am I alone in not realising that Ross Kemp was married to her?

  17. Murdoch has taken British journalism to an all time low, especiall tabloid journalism making the UK the world’s worst. He should be banned from owning any media in the UK, permanently. I hope The Sun goes the same way, and hopefully the Daily Mail. I hope something bad is dug up about scorned douche-bag Brooks. Cameron’s association with Coulson has also tarnished his image too.

    1. mainstream journalism has already been in an all time low for a long time.
mainstream news is losing its audiences because of its PC and ulterior agendas of coporatism and state fascism and war and because of the main fact that mainstream would usually not cover the most important news and instead flood us with stupid garbage about who slept with who and so and so took a dump while being drunk etc etc.

      1. You dont do any better, Pepa

        1. And so far you are doing WAY better? Oh please…

  18. Lucio Buffone 8 Jul 2011, 4:24pm

Hugh Grant also pointed out on Question Time last night (BBC1), that after his questioning at the HOC Select Committee led to Rebekah Brooks admitting to paying the Police (which is illegal), the NOTW outed him 6 months later.

    1. Lucio Buffone 8 Jul 2011, 4:26pm

Obviously I’m talking about Chris Bryant being outed, not Hugh Grant!

      1. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 5:59pm

He also said that there were threats made that if she was forced to appear before the committee, the committees personal lives would be ruined, or words to that effect.

        1. theotherone 8 Jul 2011, 7:29pm

I think we’re starting to see the press, police and politicians finally turning on Murdoch and his clan which is a good thing.

  19. Agreed that ‘evil bitch queen acts like evil bitch’ is not really news.
I’m not sure whether to be delighted or amused that Chris Bryant thinks Mrs Brooks’s reputation will be worsened by the discovery that she is a bigot with a sense of humour borrowed from the 1990s. Excellent that homophobes are now (finally!) social pariahs – but given Mrs Brooks is currently best known as a harasser of bereaved families, I find it hard to imagine anyone thinking, ‘Well, deleting those messages from Milly Dowler’s phone was a bit off, but suggesting Chris Bryant enjoys cruising – that’s a step too far!’
But Rebekah Wade nee Brooks has achieved something I previously thought impossible – making me like Ross ‘Ultimate Force’ Kemp.
Not only did he show enormous forbearance when she was hitting him, but now we find out he called her out in public. Thanks Grant Mitchell – we didn’t know you cared.

  20. Rebekah Wade’s career is over.
It’s a matter of when (and not if) she gets fired.

Couldn’t happen to a more disgusting human being.

    1. I predict it’ll be once she’s served her purpose as a convenient firewall to sheild Murdock snr and jnr from the brunt of scrutiny and public anger. They’ve already shoved NoTW and Andy Coulson under the bus, they’re just choosing the right moment.

  21. They say she is now being considered for the cowardly lion part in the Wizard of Oz.

    1. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 6:01pm

      She’s got the hair.

  22. Why is Bryant grousing about an alleged homophobic comment Wade made ‘several years ago’?! Are we meant to presume he didn’t have a suitable response to this remark?! Public figures such as him really don’t do the LGBT community any favours.Either he attempted to do something about her comment in an official capacity,or he didn’t.Whinging about it now when,….oh hang on,I forgot, the debacle with the NotW.Ah,it all makes sense now.Wade’s meant to have made a homophobic comment, she’s Chief Executive of the NotW but hasn’t lost her job, blah, blah, blah! The words SOUR & GRAPES spring to mind!

    1. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 6:02pm

      And you’re full of them.

    2. @Paul.D

Don’t pretend for a moment that she will stay in her job … its not the NOTW thats toxic – its Brooks and Murdoch who are toxic

As for Bryants discussion of the homophobia – he may have had a great reply for her at the time – but in the celebrated democracy which NewsCorp celebrates with freedom of speech being crucial – he should be free to discuss the concerns he has with any aspect of morality of Brooks that he wishes to …. or would you deny him that freedom?

    3. Staircase2 13 Jul 2011, 1:29am

You write for the NOTW right? lol
The vitriol is all there – either that or you been studying them so closely for a number of years which means its almost second nature for you.
The sneer, the condescension, the nose slightly upturned to indicate a stench so foul that only people you deem ‘scum’ could possibly not recognise it: the voice of reason.
My arse! My arse! My arse!
      You, sir are an….er……arse

  23. ‘sneered at his sexuality’ ?
Might be true…….but I think she definately had a laugh at his undies pic.
Hell hath no fury like a queen scorned.

    1. Alf N. Spit 8 Jul 2011, 6:07pm

It’s actually a very arrogant and dismissive put down to say to anyone, but from a newspaper exec to an elected representative, it betrays her own sense of immutable power.

  24. She’s a horrible woman and a disgrace to her gender, her profession and her race.

People have been sticking up for her even as far as max Clifford on this week. But she has admitted to paying off cops and there’s this and everything that happened under her watch. The more we learn of her the more reprehensible she becomes.

Andy may be opportunistic speaking now but their is genuine fear of the tabloid media and now their is a massive crack in the Murdoch empire he feels safe to speak out.

Ross I’ve always liked a tough but gentle guy who was the victim of spousal abuse and received very little to no support over it. Women attacked they get therapy and understanding, sadly men who are victims are still sneered at and ridiculed.

I’ve admired Ross since his shows going out into very dangerous ares fo the world to bring us insights into people’s lives. Very brave.

Now knowing what he said to her he’s gone up further in my estimation.

Sounds like he deserves a medal for just being married to her. As for the MP, he’s not being opportunistic, he has been brave in pursuing this investigation all this time against such powerful people.

I can’t get enough of stories about Rebekah Brooks being evil, her sexy ex-husband Grant Mitchell or Chris Bryant in his underwear on gaydar.

So this item ticks all the boxes for me.

  26. I am SO thankful I do NOT know Rebekah Brooks and can NOT claim her as a ‘personal friend’ as David Cameron does! Having watched much news and read many papers in the past week I’m forced to the conclusion that she is a thoroughly distasteful person. Her expressions of ‘sadness’ to NotW staff this afternoon have all the sincerity of an ocean of crocodile tears – she isn’t facing unemployment [yet] or the loss of her job [yet] because of the transgressions of others, and if she ever does it will be her own achievement. Her ‘excuse’ that she was on holiday [from her post as Editor of the NotW] when major hacking took place and therefore she was ignorant of the practice, is utterly pathetic – any top executive worth his or her salt on returning from holiday would have a detailed review of all that had happened in their absence, and even if she did carry out such an exercise then she was unfit for the office of Editor if she failed to ask the right questions.

    1. plus why is she still there and everyone who was at the paper sacked?

  27. There’s speculation that she may ‘have some dirt’ on James Murdoch and his Daddy, Rupert – it will be interesting to see how that plays out if they get round to dumping her to save their own corporate skins.
It’s rare that you can read so much about a single individual and fail to find a single redeeming feature – particularly odious was the way she greeted the gay MP Chris Bryant. Her snide comment speaks volumes about her, not him. Many would echo the sentiment “WELL SAID, Mr Kemp!”
Of course, there’s still the nagging question as to why she has managed to keep her job – it’s almost a conspiracy theorist’s paradise….
Does she have the dirt on James and/or Rupert Murdoch?

  28. If it’s not personal dirt, then it maybe corporate dirt?
Is she Rupert Murdoch’s long-lost love child?
Perhaps she’s really an alien and has both James and Rupert under her ‘mind control’?
The questions are endless …… maybe someday the answers will emerge, but I won’t waste any breath waiting for them.
All in all, and it’s not at all a difficult thing to admit, I’m so glad I don’t know this lady and can not count her among my friends!!!

  29. Didn’t the Director of Progtamming at Radio 2 have to resign after the Jonathon Ross/Andrew Sachs controversy.

And weren’t the News International at the forefront of that witchhunt?

Rebekak Brooks is as guilty as he was.
    Just saying.

Anyone who thinks the NOTW has gone away is a deluded fool. The name will change of course, probably to The Sun on Sunday, but only for a short time and when the stink dies down, the NOTW will suddenly arise, Phoenix like from the ashes, to ride roughshod over the laws of the UK once again.

      1. That’s their gameplan for sure, it’s no big secret that the Murdochs would love to pretend it’s business as usual, but they may find more than passive resistance this time if they simply rebrand NoTW as the Sun on Sunday without anyone batting an eyelid. There’s been a tsunami of bad press heading their way and the only thing sheilding them from it right now is the lovely Rebekkah. Once her head rolls, who’s left to take the flak?
They can’t go back to the days of empty threats and politicians currying favour whilst everyone’s scrutinising their every move.
They may want to but they’re going to have a challenge silencing the negative fallout from this. Plus Ofcom by all accounts intends to not only prevent their BSkyB takeover but to force them to sell the market shares in it they already have. It was so much easier when everyone was pretending not to notice how venal the Murdochs were.

  30. if anyone complaining has sky then you are a hypocrite

            ………nauséous ** obv.

  32. if you are complaining and have sky you’re a hypocrite

    1. I’m complaining. I don’t have sky. No problem here.
There is a delicious irony in certain ex News of the world honchos getting their harddrives and e-mails probed by the IPCC!

    2. Sky is nothing like the full NI media empire. Its far less right wing. The News channel is a bit, but its no Fox news and the entertainment channels sure arent right wing.

  33. dave wainwright 9 Jul 2011, 1:31pm

Chris Bryant never seems to miss an opportunity to get his name in print and is it would appear a media whore with whom I have no sympathy whatsoever.

  34. Notice how silent the Daily Mail is. I hope they’re next to shut down.

    1. I think it was reported in the Guardian that our friend Paul Dacre at the Daily Mail is also being lined up in the crosshairs as we speak. I’m no particular fan of Alistair Campbell but both him and Steve Coogan have pointed to similar dodgy goings on at the Mail.

  35. The BSkyB deal is far miore important to Murdoch than the NOTW is in terms of potential revenue.

Preventing that scummy company taking full ownership of Sky (currently ot owns 39%) should be the focus here.

  36. Good for him coming out and exposing homophobic people who are most likely Christians who hate gays and are spending millions of dollars to stop gays.

  37. Matthew Steeples 10 Jul 2011, 7:37am

This Bryant does seem like a little bitter. He was caught out and frankly he should get over his bitterness.

Is it really right to pile all the blame on RB? I think this goes much higher and she’s just being used as a convenient scapegoat. Read more in my piece at

    1. So far as we know, all Brooks had on him was that he put an underwear shot on gaydar. Well big f***ing woop. It’s not actually illegal to do that, when compared to say blackmailing most of the House of Commons to turn a blind eye to your mob activities whilst stamping the competition beneath your stilletto heel.
As for the Clapham common slur, all she has is innuendo. Basically anyone who previously challenged the legality of goings on at NoTW was in danger of being plastered across the News of the Screws with an unflattering headline whether fairly or not.
I hope they take Brooks to the cleaners and if she’s half as unpleasant as she appears from all that’s been in the press in the last few days she can clock it up to karma. It’s completely right to blame Brooks, she confessed on camera in front of a panel of witnesses that she’d been paying the Met to dish the dirt and then she attempted to backpeddle later when it all hit the fan. But Murdoch should take some heat too IMO
