Dear Mr Obama – Once upon a time, your own parents were forbidden to marry in the majority of states. Was that OK for them? Was it acceptable for each state to decide by itself? Do you not see that exactly what happened to your parents is happening to loving, committed GLBTQ people across your nation. Does that not register? Does the injustice of it not touch a nerve?
Point well made!
Thats because Barry doesn’t care about gay rights. He only cares to do the corporate/banker masters’ bidding. Gays are being taken as pongs, plain and simple.
Some people still “struggle” with slavery/skin color issues and female equality and child labor and religious views and charity.
Maybe part time would work for them?
All or nothing? Now! Yes we can!!!
Struggling means that the “President” is going to decide when it is mostly convenient for him to hold whatever side of the issue is popular. I don’t struggle with any issue, my mind is mostly made up. Doesn’t mean it wont change, but it is made up.
Good for him – Though I see the Republicans Still stalling in this issue in New York.
And I do wonder whether President Obama doing a Democrat gay fundraiser right at this very moment might not drive the Republicans in the NY Senate back onto strict party lines.
The dinner is mostly about raising funds from those who have money to burn more than supporting gay rights, being cynical a little, but we must recognise that President Obama has made a bit of a journey and his position is slowly improving.
Good point Dan.
I do feel they are just delaying for the sake of it.
Let hope this doesn’t tip it for them.
Of course, here is some more singing from the “President” Barry choir of mindless group thinking.
Here the Jockstrap condemns the republicans, good, but then will he condemn the Labour Party for saying that “civil partnerships were enough?”
It was the neo-con Labour party that got us into Iraq, that spend British tax money through the roof, and has always OPPOSED gay marriage. But yet of course, the jockstrap party of elitists don’t care. They say one thing one day, then forget about it the next, and when somebody points out their hypocrisy we are labeled “paranoid.”
I think President Obama may have a little explaining to do at his fundraiser this evening:
He’s Obama, (or Barry) … why does he need to explain anything to anybody…? He’s a liberal. Liberals are allowed to do whatever they want. They are allowed to keep the Patriot Act, continue wire tapping, torture, guitmo, more war mongering, more soldiers dead, more spending, more tax breaks and welfare for the rich elite families, more pat downs at airports, more lies, more more more more…
If a white president struggled with inter racial marriages, he would be a racist. If a christian president struggled with Jewish marriage, he would be called anti semitic. But Obama doesn’t think he’s homophobic even though he struggles with gay marriage. He doesn’t think we deserve equality therefore he’s homophobic. Why does he not understand that?
Its called liberal hypocrisy. Or Typical Liberal Tactics (TLT)
Liberals were against the civil rights act, liberals were against many things in the past, now they are opposed to gay marriage. No liberal state in the US has EVER voted in gay marriage, liberal bases and voters, when alone at the ballot box, REJECTED gay marriage, then come out of the ballot box and say how many gay friends they have, how much they love the gays, they are for “equality” and for the “the little guy.” Bullcrap.
If Obama opposes or ‘struggles’ with the right of law-abiding, same-sex couples entering the contract of civil marriage, then he is a bigot.
It’s as simple as that.
Why would anybody vote for a bigot.
I hope he is heckled harshly tonight.
His refusal (to date) to support equality is utterly contemptible and opportunistic, and entirely predictable.
I suspect that, for a lot of GLBTQ people, the campaign slogan for the next presidential election could be summed up as “Obama 2012, because the alternative is too hideous to consider.” It is far from a glowing endorsement. But the Republican candidates on offer are an assortment of evangelical christian wingnuts. Voting GOP or not bothering to vote at all will not help. And it sucks, I know that it does. No one likes to vote for Guy A because Guy B is worse. But Guy B in this case really would be an absolute disaster. Obama’s best bet for pushing through the legislation is in the first 100 days of a second term. When he doesn’t need to be elected, and his party have mid-terms in the far horizon, the gloves can come off. Frankly, I amazed he didn’t wait to do healthcare reform at that time. But that is the best hope GLBTQ people have. This assumes control of both houses which means people have to hold their nose and vote for the lesser of two evils and a second term.
Quite. Voting for bastard A because B is a bastard on speed is part of the dire state of modern democracies owned and run by big business.
Your comments on tactics are well-made. I think Obama is inexperienced and one of the fatal errors of his first term has been treating the GOP as if it were capable of reasonable behaviour (and that applies to some on his own side).
But watch this space.
“If Obama opposes or ‘struggles’ with the right of law-abiding, same-sex couples entering the contract of civil marriage, then he is a bigot.

No Steve, according to your PN leader Jockstrap, Barry (aka Obama) he is the BEST president the world has ever seen. According to the Jockstrap, Obama is our gay savior and we all need to shut up and as gays must worship the ground he walks on and lick his boots. Even though the wars, no gay marriage, etc etc.
Your comment of 2 hours ago was werll said,Valsky?
He’s a lawyer. He’s a politician. It’s an election year.
He speaks well. He writes well. He looks earnestly into the camera.
He photographs with his wife. He photographs with his children.
At least he got photographed with one Queen. But…..nothing else….
