Third Republican presidential candidate gets glittered

A Republican presidential candidate who said that gays are “specifically targeting our children” was ‘glittered’ in Minneapolis this weekend.

Michele Bachmann, a Minnesota representative, was at the ‘Right Online’ conservative bloggers’ conference when a gay rights activist showered her in rainbow glitter.

Ms Bachmann, who had just finished making a speech, did not react to the stunt.

The activist was identified as Rachel EB Lang. She told blogger Ed Frank: “She can run but she can’t hide from her record of support for anti-gay extremists. So today, I welcome her into the glitter hall of fame.”

The politician has a long track record of anti-gay remarks, including claiming that gay people suffer “sexual dysfunction” and “personal enslavement”.

She is the third Republican presidential candidate to suffer a glittering in recent months.

Tim Pawlenty, the former governor of Minnesota and a 2012 presidential hopeful, was targeted as he held a book signing in San Francisco last week.

Newt Gingrich received similar treatment in May.
