I will be sure to make space for this book next to all my first edition Madonna’s! Why does everybody think it’s so easy to write a children’s book?

To be fair, I don’t think that that is implied here, but you make a generally valid point. As a Spanish teacher I constantly have to disabuse English speakers I am teaching the language of the notion that they will find Spanish children’s stories necessarily easy to read. They forget that the material is written for native-speaking children – with all its special idioms and complexities. Not adult language, but not necessarily simple. Just different.

No I just mean he has a very porcine face but he’s not fat like a pig, he’s skinny, ergo an anorexic pig.

That’s nice..because you’re a nasty pr**k. The guy has oodles of talent as a singer and he may be an accomplished writer already. Keen to make judgements aren’t we?

yes i agree hes lovely..just saying any other writer has to have a story before someone gives them a book deal and dont think just cos hes famous thats an automatic reason to give him one. Didnt work so well with Madonna!

FAO Mendirin: Talented singer? He sounds like a squealing piglet? And now he’s trying to get his snout into the publishing trough as well. And yes I may be a vile pig, but surely that is better than being an anorexic pig (or pig ignorant in the case of Mendirin). Cher forever!!!

Uh huh. Can you say “ghost”? Can you say “major editorial help”?

I hope he’ll use the money to buy some teeth.

    1. He’s already written + sold a film script and a TV pilot script so I think it’s reasonable to assume that he will actually be writing this book himself.

  6. Wait for the crazy religious extremists in America to find out. They’ll have hissy fits knowing a gay man is writing books for children which in their view would contaminate or even indoctrinate their children just for reading anything he writes. They’ll protest and call for a boycott, you can bet on it.

    1. Which actually mightn’t be bad for publicity …

  7. I’d hoped, but never assumed, that he was gay. Good for him.

yes he is…when he won the golden globe i nearly knocked myself out leaping round the room after his brilliant speech…

  8. Good luck to him. I bet there’ll be a huge outcry from homophobic religious bigots who’ll want the book banned incase it contaminates their children.
The religious nut-jobs in America have managed to get a lot of books banned, don’t be surprised if they succeed with this one too.
