  3. Her shows were a very mixed bag – she organised some brilliant studio discussions, and I vividly remember an exposé she did of the vile treatment an HIV+ guy got in a small town in West Virginia, but she produced a lot of dross as well. I suppose it’s inevitable when you have to churn out so much material.

    1. Yes, I saw that show too and it was probably one of her best. You’re right she did have some great shows and produced some toe curling ones too but overall she was friend to the gay community and I can’t fault her for that

so she’s finally off the air? about time, i dispised her ever since it became obvious she was 1 of tvs biggist advocates for psudoscience (but then mabie im just being far more cynicle than i should be heh)

    1. Don’t worry. You’re not cynical if you can’t spell the word.

I don’t remember her ever doing a show on homeopathy or crystal healing. She has dabbled (and still does) in some spirituality tinged with materialism; that’s inevitable given it was an American show. But that’s not pseudoscience, it’s a personal outlook on life.

I loved her Dr Oz and OB/GYN episodes. Really informative.

Dr Oz…? Informitive..? *sigh* do a little reading into the stuff he peddles and you’ll understand what psudoscience is

  8. Hooray! Another thread showing how much we hate ourselves. Oprah – in backwards, right wing gay hating America – has done more than 140 shows trying to educate people about gay issues, she’s been completely gay supportive. So everyone on here attacks her.

    You people really are unpleasant.

    1. Where’s the self hate Simon? Guys with a variety of opinions post on this story, some of us don’t give a hoot about Oprah’s big send off and we’re self haters? That term gets bandied about on here way too much. Just cause some of us have different opinions we’re suddenly enemies of the gay community and ourselves? And if we ‘people’ are unpleasant Simon you can always just f–k off to the “Lets All Play Nicely and Not Express An Individual Opinion” forum.

      1. There you are. Being very pleasant there arent you :-)

    2. Got to agree with Simon here. I peruse these boards once a week or so and do notice a theme that the comments on any story about someone supportive of gay rights. Whether it be Oprah, Lady Gaga, Elton John or whoever else, the bulk of the comments always seem to actively go after them even if the tone of the story is positive. Lots of bitter people out there…

  9. It is America after all. Den of religious nutters. Oprah did great in GLBT sphere and I am only grateful. People like her are to be treasured and respected. But how can one do that when many here show such a luck of self respect. You can only get what you give. I pity you and send you my love.
