  1. I can imagine in a combat scenario, with bullets flying and the effort of missing landmines taking its toll on my heat-frazzled brain, the very first thing I would be thinking about would be who the guy next to me is sleeping with. Wouldn’t anyone?

    1. Sounds like a Monty Python sketch. Would there be grandfather clocks and cakes too ?

  2. So killing people of the same gender doesn’t offend people’s ‘religious or moral principles’, but loving them might seriously do so…

Ri-i-ight. And bang goes their right to claim any moral superiority.

    1. there actually is a gravestone somewhere in the USA of a gay man.

It says “I was given a medal for killing people, and thown out of the miltary for loving one”

You might be able to find it via google.

thats the rationality of those who hate gays. Unfortunately there are too many good people in America for us to bring the taliban here and let the bad guys kill each otehr while cleansing the earth of both christian and Mulsim scum

      1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Matlovich you can find everything on the interwebz these days. Looks like a brave man

    2. Plenty of people in the USa still bitching about ending DADT. jesus freaks of the worst kind.

People who are afraid of gays, but not afraid of bullets????

btw, half hte members of our local health club are gay. So what.

BTW most all the molesters are str8 married guys

and the cahtolic church headed by the Godfather of Pedophilia, RATZInger

  3. Just what is the distraction for straight soldiers, afraid they’re attracted to someone of the same sex? Hardly likely. Just what is it they have to prepare for exactly? Where is the morality in discriminating against anyone based on their natural, sexual orientation, but its ok to induct a convicted felon into the U.S. military, started and condoned by George Bush. I didn’t hear their bigoted brass decry that. So much for their morality.

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 2:53pm

Agree with that Robert. So true.

    2. so true also. bush’s morality was also shown in how his pals stole BOTH elections with voter fraud, putting in so few voting machines in poor districts eg in OHio, that many dems didnt get to vote, they had to go to work for hteir meager wages.

Bush is scum of the earth also. A former booze alcoholic who is now a religious alcoholic.

BTW – IRAq – the repubs actually test marketed various reasons for going to war with Iraq.

the one that stuck was WMDs/ Of which we didn’t find anything.

Except 5000 Americans to bury, and the count goes marching on, it isnt over yet

While meanwhile Bin Laden escaped in Afghanistan cus of prep for Iraq.

if something real terrible occurs again in a western city, it will have George Bush’s name all over it.

  4. Out Military 28 Apr 2011, 1:36pm

Commander Amos is to be commended for his efficient implementation of repeal. FYI – regarding DADT – http://OutMilitary.com is providing a supportive place for gay servicemen and women to friend, share and network in a post DADT era.

  5. Strong, sincerely held moral or religious beliefs? LOL. They are worried about the moral and religious beliefs of people who drop bombs, shoot people, blow up cities, kill men women and children for a living. I appreciate our army for defending our nation against other sick nutters in the world. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t think our own soldiers are also sick nutters. All soldiers are killers. That’s what they do. And I thought the majority of US soldiers would be christians. Where in the new testament does Jesus say go and kill. I thought he said turn the other cheek.

    1. ‘All soldiers are killers’

Being a British Soldier I disagree, I actually have never shot in anger, yes I am trained to defend myself but my last 2 tours have involved searching for IED’s (roadside bombs) which happens to be saving both Afghan lives and multi national forces lives.

But hey tar us all with the same brush…

      Gaz (currently serving in Afghan)

      1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 2:55pm

And doing an excellent job too Gaz!! :)
        x

      2. I agree, I’m gay and my brother’s straight. He works as a firefighter in the RAF, and his main role is saving lives. On another note, he tells all his mates on base that his brother’s gay, and none of them are bothered in the slightest.

      3. You’re right Gaz, not all soldiers are killers, some are nurses, some are firefighters, cooks etc. But if you’ve got a gun, then you’ve been trained to kill, and IMO, people who take other peoples lives are sick nutters – whatever the circumstance. Don’t listen to people telling you you’re a hero whilst they sit at home watching eastenders, they don’t care about your life. Leave the army before you come back in a coffin. Life’s too short and precious. And you look too pretty to die young. (not that ugly people should die young, but….)

      4. Being a proud military brat I completely agree with you Gaz. My own good old dad has already got his Afghanistan campaign medal and was going to be sent out to Helmand this year because hes an engineer in the RN. Quite the opposite of doing any killing, he would have been making life more bearable for the locals. My point being that our servicemen and women are not killers. And finally I hope you return home safely Gaz!

      5. Well done oppo.
ex- army myself, but a bit before your time…
        243#####… Old fart or what!!!!

Keep well, your moral up and your a#se down.

      6. I learnt from my ‘good old’ Dad not to join the army. He got killed when I was 10. I spent 10 years listening to my Mum crying and missing him and struggling as she tried to bring two kids up on her own. He got a medal, but he never wore it.

  6. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 2:52pm

One wonders what training is involved with the preparation of accepting openly Gay soldiers?
It’s still the ‘them and us’ situation. When will they learn we are all human beings and being Gay or straight doesn’t change that?
I will look with interest as Gay, Bi or Lesbians serving in the military climb the ladder of success and rank, or will that be a stumbling block?
There seem to be too much holding back rather than just getting on with it.
Enough already, they should show some respect to all there serving military, regardless of sexual orientation.

    1. Here’s some of the training for you:

      http://cl.ly/441x3N2D03020b333q36

But seriously, the Pentagon has published a pretty detailed guide showing what the training consists of and the service branches have published their timetables for getting it done. At this point the only question mark is exactly when certification will take place.

  7. Jock, obviously the US military thinks we’re all predators, but they’re rather silent when it comes to a straight soldier hitting on a female soldier, and of course, that’s not a distraction or a threat to unit cohesion.

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 4:28pm

Exactly. Problem is is that attitude just going to stay within their forces. Many may be accepted to serve but I worry about how they will be treated and even if being LGBT will scapper any chances of promotion.
Still as with all things, changes like this can only come from within.

  8. Seriously, people need training? Really?

“Hey, this is Bob, he’s gay. He’s also a human being so show damned respect to everyone else in the world”

    Is it that hard?

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 4:29pm

Excellent comment. It doesn’t take too much to work out surely, but then..

    2. I suppose it all depends on the individual and how they were raised. A lesson in tolerance is not such a bad idea

  9. It’s not just the word “training”, it’s the “begin” bit of it. That implies that it’s some lengthy process. How hard can it be?
What’s so stupid is that some of the marines fellow soldiers will be gay anyway and they’ll have served alongside them with no problems at all, yet suddenly KNOWING they’re gay will require special training to cope with this??

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 4:30pm

Yes, exactly Iris. I think they can’t see past their own noses. They are so blind with this it is insulting.

      1. Speaking of blind, this news item missed one major fact: training actually began more than two months ago, and is on track with the stated goal of completion by the end of May:
        http://www.military.com/news/article/marines-fast-track-dadt-repeal-training.html

        1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 4:57pm

Thanks R Boyer that reads slightly better but what exactly do they need to train?

I would have thought a sentence saying, some people are Gay so get over it and get on with your jobs, would be quite adequate.

  10. The Marines began training their Afghanistan-based forces over two months ago.
    http://www.zimbio.com/United+States+Marine+Corps/articles/BwLgD7r8651/Training+Repeal+DADT+Already+Underway+Afghanistan

This PN article appears to be response to a Marine Corps article of April 15th, which ALSO stated that training began in February.
    http://www.marines.mil/unit/hqmc/Pages/MarinesimplementingDADTrepealtraining.aspx

  11. It’s going to take years and years of dedicated training, equality is such a difficult subject to understand and get the hang of.

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 Apr 2011, 4:57pm

      Innit!! LOL

  12. They can offer as much ‘training’ as they like to these guys but once a homophobe always a homophobe.

    1. Often but not always. I have run into a couple of people on a couple of boards that started out homophobic but definitely changed their attitude and are now very supportive. So not always.

      1. Jock S. Trap 30 Apr 2011, 10:26am

Thats true actually Merlyn, have known quite a few people that were homophobic but after actually getting to know someone Gay, me in this case, have changed and turned out very supportive.
Very often these people are just going on what they have been told and brought up with, the usual assuming but once they are bothered to find out for themselves find things are very much different.
It’s as if they suddenly realise Gay people are human too.
Sadly, however, there are those, clearly too thick to use their own brains to find out and will refuse to accept anything other than what Mummy and Daddy told them20 plus years ago.
It smacks of being completely childish but most of these are older and seem to be completely without the knowledge of thought.
        Sad really.

  13. Andrew Eppink 28 Apr 2011, 7:19pm

The ‘gay’ agenda and the men who edult in it are disgusting. If this continues it’ll be the end of the military.

PS – The captcha sum is (47.21*e^[(-23.7i-6.4329)/x] = 8 but the software won’t take it.

    1. what agenda? live life freely and fairly?

    2. Yeah, what agenda?! Oh, they want all the rights of straight Americans. That is SO scary!!

No, the military is not going to collapse. Get a grip on your paranoid fantasies.

I don’t get it…all these straight men terrified that we will bring down the entire US military. Did people say this nonsense when the integration of the troups was being implimented? Probably.

      1. Jock S. Trap 30 Apr 2011, 10:29am

        Ironic isn’t it.
These people think by allowing people to be themselves somehow the world will suddenly cave in on itself.
Yet it is the Religious leaders and politicans who will ultimately do that all by themselves by the wars they create.
Still must be handy to blame all others.

    3. GlendaSings 1 May 2011, 2:00pm

Remarkable that the military services of every other country in the western world seems to have accepted gay soldiers without imploding. US is way behind Australia, New Zealand and Britain in this regard. Note also that the US has been fighting beside openly gay soldiers from these countries in Iraq and Afghanistan for quite a few years now without report of incident in the media of breakdown of morale through contact with those nasty gay soldiers.

  14. Andrew Eppink 28 Apr 2011, 7:20pm

    exultt

  15. Andrew Eppink 28 Apr 2011, 7:21pm

    1. Mithra lives !!!!!

  16. Ha!! wussbag americans can’t handle being near gay people without training!

  17. America have really pastard Presindent now: he perverting U.S. military. That’s terrible!

My dear Marines, kick out all perverts of your units! Be strong and clean from any perversion!

    1. LBG are not perverts

      1. Jock S. Trap 29 Apr 2011, 1:49pm

Unlike those who frequent Gay News Website claiming to be homphobes.

    2. Homophobia really is a perversion and I agree Rich… it really should be eliminated so kick out the perverted homophobes from the military now.

      1. Jock S. Trap 29 Apr 2011, 2:38pm

        Here! Here!

        1. You GO, Pavlos! Indeed!

  18. “You remain obligated to follow orders that involve interaction with others”

You have to interact nicely with others! This sounds like something you need to tell kindergartners who can’t get along. How pathetic is that? We need to grow up people.

I challenge anyone “anti-lgbt” to name an incident where you have been harmed because someone around you was gay, but if they had been straight, the same situation would not have harmed you?

  19. From a British perspective, have our armed forces been trained in how to deal with the homophobia of the US armed forces?
As our two countries often find themselves in coalitions the homophobia of the US military is a threat to the cohesion of the UK military and to the well being of our gay and straight servicemen and women.

    1. Jock S. Trap 29 Apr 2011, 2:37pm

      It’s a very good point KC253.
It’s a bit of an insult to expect our troops to serve alongside countries whose powers that be are homophobic.

    2. I think you’re confusing official policies with actual attitudes. Just because the official policies of our militaries are currently poles apart doesn’t necessarily mean that the attitudes of the majority of our service members are too.

      1. “One soldier showed me a website on his laptop where in December last year there were more than 340 male soldiers in Iraq actively seeking encounters and friendships while deployed. It was one of several established online sites gay soldiers use… Following this year’s increase in troops in Afghanistan, there are hundreds on the same sites openly reaching out, baring face pics, ACUs and all. Bagram Airbase and Kandahar Air Field could probably hold their own small Pride marches down the runways, one soldier joked in an email… he and the other men I eventually interviewed… explained that they were “out” to their unit and that those units either acknowledged it but had not chosen not to report them to command, were comfortable with them or actively embraced them — usually with a lot of good-natured soldierly ribbing. More often than not their squadron would defend them from slurs by other companies without revealing the truth..”

        http://tinyurl.com/42faa5s

  20. This article made me laugh ‘there hasn’t been pushback’ no wonder they need training pushback is half the fun…..lol

  21. Poor U.S. Marines… Now they are forced to deal with homosexual animals on daily basis…. Pliticians now degenerating the U.S. Military.

    1. You’re the pervert, hater! These men (and women) put their lives on the line every day. How DARE you insult them in this way?! Animals? Look in the mirror, bigot!

      1. Jock S. Trap 30 Apr 2011, 10:38am

Yeah, Merlyn, we’ve had to put up with that cretin for a couple of weeks now.
He’s doing it to shock so we’re trying, as much as possible, to leave him be and hope the nurse catches him and ups his medication.
I’m guilty of trying sometimes though, have to admit but whats the point.
At the moment he’s not sure which religion he is in.
Last week it was Muslim, this week was Catholic.
We can’t wait to see what next week will bring, Jedi I expect.
He’s a bit like that annoying little yapping poodle you have to ignore. In the end you have to put him outside to stop him pooping everywhere.
So Merlyn, meet our resident verbally pooping poodle, Rich.

    2. you are the only animal you idiot

    3. Rich, why do you keep changing your style of writing?
Rich, why do you alternate between a pseudo-moronic uneducated person to articulate and educated person?

  22. Just another gay activist 30 Apr 2011, 7:54am

Obama still taking 5 months to repeal this DADT law – what a total joke!!!!!!

    1. better slow than a back lash – he’s up against a pretty rough resistance

  23. The european armed forces have had this equality for years.
Has it done their fighting effectiveness any harm – of course not.

    1. Jock S. Trap 30 Apr 2011, 11:59am

      As has Canada!

  24. They are in NATO so a good exercise would be training duties with the British / Dutch Army and appropriately selected LGBT troops and LGBT acquainted troops.

contact breaks barriers – just a pity it has to be in such a domain.

    good morning America – its 2011 !

  25. Whern homosexually perverted soldiers dies, their remains should be dumped togehter with all sorts of filthy things!

    1. homosexuality isn’t a perversion nor filthy unlike bigoted scum like you

    2. Rich is gay. Openly. He’s a joker whose pretending to be homophobic to provoke a reaction. Don’t fall for his bullshlt.
Rich, or whatever your name is, you’re so boring, and obviously bored that you can be bothered to write the filth you do. Get a life mate. YAWN.

    3. .Rich, why do you keep changing your style of writing?
      .
.Rich, why do you alternate between a pseudo-moronic uneducated person to articulate and educated person?

    4. David Myers 3 May 2011, 11:44pm

You’re such a troll. Get a life and get out of here.

      1. Why bother to reply to him at all. If everybody just ignored him, did not respond to anything he writes, he would soon give up. You are only feeding his neuroses!

  26. That moron Rich should be put out of his misery. A nice lethal injection would suffice to rid the world of this right wing fascist scum.

    1. The guy’s posts read like words randomly cut out of a Korean electronics manual, nothing to get worked up over. Besides, the more we talk about him, the less time we have to talk about Marines and what hot little numbers they are. Know what I love about Marines? They’re shameless. Once you talk them into crossing the line, there’s none of this wide-eyed ‘you want to put what where?’ bull crap. Once they’re in, they’re all in, and they throw themselves into it with a fearless gusto that’s like nothing else on god’s green earth. Man I love me some Devil Dogs.

      http://cl.ly/3G0j2X372o0K0z1f3125

    2. You should think that one day you will get lethal injection from certain type of weapon…. heheheh…

      1. Rich, you are really just all mouth and no muscle
        .
        Arn’t you!!!

      2. And YOU should think that you’re running a very big risk of being arrested, Rich. You’ve made far too many threatening and potentially illegal comments on PN. You’re a fool if you think your IP can’t be traced.
And I noticed you said that you weren’t using your own IP on another thread. Why? Do you realise many of your comments are potentially breaking the law?
No-one here is shocked by you. We PITY you – an angry, repressed gay person who is clearly in need of help with his mental health problems.
        Poor Rich.

  27. GlendaSings 1 May 2011, 1:56pm

I’m a military brat myself, my Dad was in the Australian Army 29 years. I’m actually pleased that they are going to do some training around this – assuming that the training is going to relate to things like “bullying and harrassment of your gay buddies is not OK” and “Just because someone is gay doesn’t mean he wants to sleep with you” and “Just because he’s gay doesn’t mean you can’t be friends” and most importantly “beating up your gay comrade will result in serious consequences for you”. Better that they have some change management in place rather than just leave everyone to their own devices. I’m guessing that a similary program was probably implemented as women joined the forces and moved up in the ranks, and moved more into combat roles.

    1. If you are a military guy, don’t be pitiful for homosexual perverts. Thnk what evil these do for innocent children, how they perverting kid’s mind and renew filthy perversions on the Earth. Think how all these pederasts distroying our civilization, how they attempting to deconstruct our justice and promote homosexuality in schools. How they are attempting to advocate their pederasty all over the world and lead humanity to total shame and filth. The end of Roman Empire was cause by homosexuals. That’s show to you something historically important.

      1. Rich, you have changed your style of writing again.
        .
        Why is that ?

        1. Because he’s a fraud, that’s why John.

          1. Clearly, but interesting how he changes from an uneducated to an educated style,
            .
I agree, clearly a fraud, and clearly a troll agitator
            .
            Also, a little bit thick

        2. I think Rich has little spurts of ‘sanity’ in the maelstrom of his mental problems, hence his longer, more coherent comments. He’s clearly ill. Poor Rich.
Doesn’t he remind you of Ivan Gumilev or whatever he was called, and the rabidly barking Person Who We Were Instructed to Ignore (begins with an R). I don’t even want to write that vicious man’s name here.

  28. Dan Filson 10 May 2011, 8:46pm

US Marines begin training to accept gay soldiers – the mind boggles as to what’s needed. In World War II there must have been tens of thousands of gay soldiers on the front line – those not sifted out – and when you are in a trench sheltering from mortar fire, I doubt if you care what the next guy is dreaming of.

  29. Dan Filson 10 May 2011, 8:48pm

in the 70s, I met Leonard Matlovich who made a moving speech about his forces service and what it felt like to be thrown out, and later bumped into him again outside a well known Earls Court restaurant / nightclub. Nice modest guy.

  30. A Geordie abroad 11 May 2011, 7:38pm

Now what they need is a Stonewall Champions scheme to waste their dollars on…. Like the UK armed forces, that should do the trick – not! OR maybe one can marry then our Peter T can have another hero ;-)
