I hate to be a pedant, but Patrick Harvie isn’t the Scottish Greens’ “leader”, he’s co-convenor.

Good luck to him and the rest of the Greens in the election though!

And he’s not ‘MSP for Glasgow’ either.

    He’s the Party List MSP.

Glasgow has more than one seat in it you know.

Those should be ashamed to be still carrying on like this is 2011. Prejudice is unacceptable in any form and there’s no way he should put up with it.

These stories sadly show the relevence of Gay Prides and the message they send.

We have every right to be ourselves and expect to be just as accepted as everyone else.

  4. He should name names then.

Name and shame the moronic homophobes. Let them explain themselves.

  5. This title totally takes away from what he was trying to say he was saying mostly it’s ok and it has almost been wiped out completely as for saying he should name and shame people that would unprofessional it is an internal matter and not a massive one at that.

I was going to say the same thing Stuart. I’m a member of the Scottish Green Party and we are constantly correcting people. The Green Party has convenors not leaders. Patrick is a great guy but I think he needs to name and shame if there are MSPs engaging in homophobia.

  7. Who cares what this Lenin look-alike thinks, says or does?

  8. GO Greens around the world! THE Party for progressing our rights!

  9. This isn’t the first time he’s said something like this. A couple of years ago he claimed there were several closeted MSPs, but again he didn’t name names. My guess is he’s looking for publicity for the election in 2 weeks.

Ha. Patrick is about a foot shorter than Lenin, for a start. ;)

We care because he’s one of Scotland’s most capable politicians and he was instrumental in developing our hate crime laws, making Scotland a world leader in lgbt rights.

  11. Further to the pedants above – he’s not an MSP at all, and hasn’t been for about a month – there are no MSPs.

But before that he was an MSP for Glasgow? The city is an electoral region.

I have to say I’ve never had anything homophobic directed towards me in Holyrood though (I work there too, albeit not as an MSP haha)

  12. Patrick Harvie is a wannabe…..i have had the misfortune to have met this guy on a number of occasions and he comes across as a complete nerd and is a very irritating man to say the least.
The Greens will not do well in these elections, and as for Patrick Harvie, well, he might as well find anothet job
