I guess it’s one thing going into a Party and hoping to change it’s outlook. Of course if you get such a Party that has absolutely no interest in change your basically flogging a dead horse.

Here’s hoping Alan Simpson can now focus on doing good for Equal rights from outside the Party.

    1. just change your party, which re gays is quite close to hitler.

Would have been better if he’d said all this whilst still in office. But better late than never!
Im sure there are more republicans (probably not loads but some) who feel the same way, however they dont want to lose their enormous donations from “christian” groups and the Teabag Party. Money talks in politics sadly…

Must admit I thought that at first but this sounds more like frustration at not being listened to. They clearly have no interest in progressing Gay rights which is a bit of a worry for all LGBTQ Americans but lets hope he can make a difference in another role.

Your comments about donations also hits the nail perfectly too.

Alan Simpson is great!!!!! If more Republicans were like him we would have a healthy country here!!!!!

  4. In the words of Leonard Cohen “They sentanced me to twenty years of boredom, for trying to change the system from within”.
Never understood the mindset of the log-cabin Republican. It’s one thing to hope you can gain the GOP’s respect, but by any stretch of the imagination you’ve got an uphill task on your hands.
When stirring up opposition to gay marriage isn’t merely a glitch but a unique selling point, and pandering to grassroots evangelical homophobes is the done thing expecting them to completely overhaul their policies just because you’re joining a club that doesn’t want you as a member is a tad optimistic.
You might as well get a job with the Pope!
