Oh, YAWN……… They are trying to squeeze every last inch out of Christian and Syed’s relationship but it has now all become oh so boring. Last week they used shock tactics to try and instil a bit of zest by resorting to that old soap cliched of having a restaurant roof fall on Syed. Tragically he wasn’t killed off but ended up on the same old hospital ward where each ‘Enders character ends up at some time or other. It’s not even summer yet but Albert Sq is one long snooze right now. I was even tempted to dip into Corrie recently having abandoned it long ago, but same old thing – resident lesbian falls off building and ends up in emergency. Past the shock of discovering well known characters are having same sex liaisons, out and loud gays in soap are just plain PC box-ticking boring…
It maybe boring and ‘PC box ticking’ however showing an out, ‘normal’ gay couple can have huge positive affects of the young people out in the world who watch Soaps.
It ‘normalizes’ it… and i think its great that their relationship is taking the ‘normal’ turns just like any hetero relationship would. Usually gay couples start and then disppear just as quickly.
so agree , and you comment made me laugh , and @ katena these two are as “normal” as Punch and Judy, personally am looking forward to them being the first gay divorce on tv , yawns , Romeo Romeo, overacting to an extreme is a yawn .
Eastenders will throw any sh1te they can together to provoke a reaction; stolen babies, gay Muslims, why not be done with it and have some WWII veteran kicked to death by a mob of east end chavs. I think the only people who watch this programme are Daily Star and Mail readers.

All this rush to be the first to have a civil partnership and a child….
We’ve had the Space Race so is this the UK’s Gay Soap Race?
When did Syed’s divorce from Amira get finalised?
As far as I can remember they’re not even divorced yet?
Then again – it’s Eastenders. An inconvenient, living wife shouldn’t be any problem for Eastenders to deal with.
I hope at least 1 of the characters complains on air how discriminatory it is that they are not allowed to marry, simply because they are gay.
That would be better, they should have them saying they won’t get hitched until they can marry. Then again this is the BBC.
hmmm does being married preclude you from having a civil partnership ? I wonder ?????
I don’t think so but it would make a good point.
Oi! You’re giving away a future plot twist!
Registrar: “Is there anyone here who has just cause or reason why Syed and Christian cannot legally be bound to each other?”
Amira [entering the room suddenly]: “Yes. He’s still married to me.”
Throw in a goat too and you please the extremists
(And yes for those serious types that was a joke.)
yes it does, you have to be dcvorced to have either another marriage of a partneenrship, sorry, it’s the law
viejo
Sense the tone!
;)
How awful :(

I love the fact PN, that you use a snap of Christian and Syed arguing for this piece on them having a CP because they are SOOOO in love!!!!
The blake who plays christian is one big old muscle mary
Is that praise or criticism?!
lol :)
I saw him on TV and he was so OTT he came across as a fake
An actor, OTT? Never!
Has he become an ex muslim then?
and at one time his faith was so important to him to like when he ripped his parents off before he entered Eastenders
“…first gay civil partnership” ….as opposed to first straight one ???
John Partridge is a big poof. He is on tv too much, get them hitched and ditched from the show, asap.
So what if he is a big poof? Is it his bigness or his poofiness that worries you?

With the likes of the Great Ann Mitchell going into Eastenders (again!) It might well be the other way round! By that I mean an oldy kicking a chav!
I don’t watch EastEnders. I wonder if this is why that picture reminds me so much of that Mt. Seleya scene from Star Trek III…
Think your gonna need a bigger catflap.
