Welsh teenager in court for anti-gay Facebook messages

A Welsh teenager ended up in court last week for sending homophobic messages on Facebook.

Jordan Campbell McKenzie, 18, of Flint, was told by a judge that his offence was a hate crime, the Flintshire Chronicle reports.

Flintshire magistrates’ court heard that the victim had been in a shopping centre with his partner when another youth, not McKenzie, began shouting anti-gay abuse.

The victim then received received homophobic Facebook messages from the youth and McKenzie, who also threatened him.

McKenzie, who has already served time in youth custody, admitted sending a malicious message. He was handed a 12-month community penalty and ordered to pay £85 in costs.
