  1. Steve jobs has hooked up with Murdoch so we have an idea of his moral compass

    1. Yep. But he’s also PR savvy so won’t want to damage his brand by letting it be seen to be allied with this homophobic little app. Bet it’s pulled from the App Store.

      1. Jock S. Trap 18 Mar 2011, 9:26am

Exactly, it is well documented that many from the LGBT community want the best products so we are the most likely group to spend on such technology.

Can they afford to dissmiss that? I doubt it.

  2. I have a cure for Exodus. Stick the iPhone up your arse.

  3. Does nobody with any semblance of conscience monitor the iPhone App Store? All sorts extremely dubious content has been approved lately, and only after a controversy has blown up does the problem get addressed – not the other way round. Why on earth do we need a petition to get this removed? Surely common decency wins out. Apple’s gay customers shouldn’t have their loyalty repaid by accommodating homophobia. Is this the incentive to spend in excess of £600 on a new phone? I don’t want to be the target demographic for a hate group.

    1. Jock S. Trap 18 Mar 2011, 9:31am

I have to agree. I know the excuse may be we get so many but then how come certain sites have word recognition to allow and not allow comments, I’m sure they could with this. With all their money I’m sure they could come up with something.

However I guess they have to also be careful not to innocently alienate groups such as the LGBT like a lot of mobile companies have ie by banning Gay porn they also ban Gay news sites etc.

  4. Yet another reason not to become an iFashionvictim!

    1. Jock S. Trap 18 Mar 2011, 9:32am

Not at all I think we have the unique position to make these companies play by the rules whereas we didn’t a few years ago.

Companies are more accountable thnks to equality.

  5. Paddyswurds 17 Mar 2011, 7:43pm

Has someone got a link so we can bombard Apple with complaints and spam and bring down their servers.

    1. Don’t buy the product. LOL@wanted to destroy anyone that disagrees with you.

  6. I must admit, I am tempted to download the app to see what it says.

  7. James&Phill 17 Mar 2011, 8:51pm

    WTF?????????????????????
This is one of the reasons I left the Church, they preach about an all loving God and that we are made in his image and all that nonsense YET when people don’t conform to their beliefs we are instantly sin-incarnate…….Anyway it was King James who had the scribes write in the bible about “man shall not lay with man” crap … HELLO!!! Kings of that time we’re all closeted anyways. “God” doesn’t hate gays as I have been told by many a priest, vicar, pastor – the “god hates fags” business is down to individuals opinions NOT the church … i could go on and on about this subject it really gets my back up OH! one final thing,Apple …. SHAME ON YOU!!! How many gays are working for your company? Possibly more than you realise or is it in the job spec that if staff are found to be gay they get stoned to death or something? SORT IT OUT YEAH THERE’S ENOUGH UNNECCESSARY HATE IN THE WORLD

Can’t sign to petition as the website refuses non US residents. Is this discrimination?

    David

    1. I had no problem signing the petition and I don’t have a US address. Some of their petitions are US specific, but this one *should* be internationally accessible. If you’re having problems signing, it could be a bug left over from the upgrade; it might be worth an email to the change.org team if you continue to have a problem.
      -Sean in Canada

    2. David, are you sure? I live in Portugal and I’ve just signed it.

      1. This problem only occurs if you try signing on your iPhone (mobi site). When I tried on their regular website with my Mac, it worked!

  9. Do Apple not know that there apple logo is an homage to Alan Mathison Turing
    What a bunch of assholes

    1. Urban myth. It’s actually a homage to Isaac Newton. In fact, the original version of the Apple logo was of Newton sitting under an apple tree.

      1. Lady Tanya 18 Mar 2011, 6:54am

oh crap i thought it was

      2. You might think it was an urban myth. But I think Tanya is right.

        1. I’m afraid William’s right. It’s an urban myth, albeit a very commonly repeated one. If you want more information on it, see: http://www.edibleapple.com/the-evolution-and-history-of-the-apple-logo/

  10. With the help of Exodus, you too can be cured of a happy loving relationship with someone you’re actually attracted to and live instead in a perpetual state of miserable self-repression.

    Thanks Apple

    1. That’s probably what most members of Exodus are doing – repressing their own sexuality. Misery loves company, as they say, hence their constant quest to make other people feel as bad about themselves as they do.

Apple should make better checks before allowing such cr*p. I can’t believe this has happened so soon after the other app.

      1. I heard that the founders of Exodus actually revealed that they are, yes, still gay.

        1. That doesn’t surprise me at all. Idiots is too weak a word to describe them.

        2. Paddyswurds 19 Mar 2011, 3:05pm

@OSCAR…yes the origonal dudes who founded the vile Exodus had to resign because, surprise surprise they Are still gay.

      2. That’s why half of them end up caught in gay bars…. the best laugh I got in a while is when I head Michael Bussee and Gary Cooper, two co-founders of Exodus got married… to each other! That’s sums it up the whole Exodus joke beautifully.

  11. apple and i-phones are cool but there’s many twats about who’ll use anything for a negative purpose

  12. Jock S. Trap 18 Mar 2011, 9:24am

Yet another Christian group who feels the need to bully people because of how they were born.

Disgusting. It’s is time for someone to ‘cure’ religious people of their lunacy?

Have signed, glad to see so many others have too.

  13. The mendacity of the religious knows no bounds, gay cure indeed! We all know there is no “cure” nor indeed would we want to be. Perhaps someone should write an application that cures people of the mental illness that is religious belief.

  14. Noel Dolan 18 Mar 2011, 1:27pm

Personally speaking I’m getting tired of all this ‘moral outrage’ on the part of the gay community. ‘Boy who cried wolf’ comes to mind.

We should be concentrating our efforts on more serious and overt issues such as full marriage equality, the almost daily beatings and sometimes killings of GLBT people in Brazil (it’s tantamount to a genocide there) along with homophobic bullying etc.

Issues like this app are small in comparison and shouldn’t take a 10,000 signature petition – I downloaded the app so that I could give it a negative review and report it – that was enough for me.

    1. PumpkinPie 18 Mar 2011, 5:01pm

Um… What you did requires more effort than signing a petition…

      1. Noel Dolan 18 Mar 2011, 5:34pm

        You missed my point completely.

    2. I agree with you that this is small fry compared to the other issues you mention, but I don’t see why we can’t respond to this too. It’s not as if signing a petition is going to leave no time to address major gay rights abuses. After all, you (I would hope) are involved in combating serious injustices but also managed to find time to review the Exodus app.

      1. Noel Dolan 18 Mar 2011, 7:42pm

I agree that signing a petition is a small thing but the number of gay media outlets that are running with this and the frenzy being generated on gay forums and on Facebook etc. is collective energy that could be used best elsewhere.

But that’s not the only point: We need to choose our battles and not scream blue murder at every small provocation. There are numerous hate filled homophobic websites and blogs out there (and Facebook pages) yet there’s no one organising petitions to Blogspot or Google or Facebook. How many petitions have been distributed electronically to the ISPs of ‘God Hates America’ etc. to have the Westboro Baptist websites removed? Exodus have a website full of this crap that’s just as easily accessible via a smart phone’s web browser (in fact all the app really does is deliver that content anyway) yet there’s no petition to have that website removed – we’re constantly fighting the symptoms and not the cause, cutting off heads instead of digging up roots.

        1. Paddyswurds 19 Mar 2011, 3:15pm

@ Noel Dolan….Yet you find the time to post three cooments spewing homophobic bile. I suggest you take you twisted logic back to the comment pages of the Daily Wail where you will find putridity more to your liking. Reparative Therapies such as this have been the cause of a number of suicides world wide in recent years but of course that isn’t something the xttians worry about as their book of Abrahamic fiction extolls the killing of queers as a virtue….

          1. Noel Dolan 21 Mar 2011, 5:14pm

            QED

    3. @Noel Dolan.

The promotion of reparative therapy is a serious issue, so much that the Royal College of psychiatrists recently made annoucement to urge psychiatrists not to support such therapies; or face disciplinary action over unethical practice.

  15. Ironically… I would say about 65% of the staff in the Apple store in my (large west coast) city are gay… and they allow this app.

  16. I downloaded the app. Its crap. I mean its not even a well created app, youd think with all that evangelical money they could have made something a bit better. Defo only giving it 1 star!

    1. I think I might make an App to help cure heterosexuals, then again I wouldn’t want them on my team so scratch that!

  17. Let’s petition Apple to at least be fair…where’s the “cure lefties” app?

    1. Paddyswurds 18 Mar 2011, 11:37pm

Where do we sign people can someone whos been to the site to sign, copy and paste the link.

        1. Hi Paddyswurds, Thanks for this link.

  18. gay cure lies is no small thing as many get hurt etc by these lies

  19. Lets tackle the Gay Cure Industry in the UK!!!

Ann Atkins, the media commentor is a well known supporter of the Gay Cure charity True freedom trust.

    1. Reading this site John, is like reading the diaries of a lunatic.

      1. Paddyswurds 19 Mar 2011, 3:21pm

@ Will….Another Daily Wail refugee…did you make a wrong turn when you came out of church, pet, or did the Reparative Therapy not work as they told you ait would and you are still dabbling in the Gay world?

        1. Are you on drugs, or just stupid Paddyswurds? Let me get this right, because I think the link provided by JohnK, i.e. a gay “cure” site, is a load of b0llox, you think I support gay cures? WTF???? If you had a stroke, you’d tell us, right?

      2. I know, shocking as well as complete lunacy.

  20. It seems Apple is one of those companies which hide away any email contact address.

Probably best to only purchase goods from companies which like to hear from their customers.

    1. Paddyswurds 19 Mar 2011, 5:27pm

      @ Dave.. sjobs@apple,com

      1. Paddyswurds 19 Mar 2011, 5:28pm
