Where is the Conservative Party and what have you done with it?

    I think it’s been kidnapped myself :-)

    1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 12:32pm

When i read the story and just before i clicked on comments i said to myself, “surely there wont be whingers on this story…..wrong!…… very first comment, but then i looked at the Tag name on it and well…….

      1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 12:37pm

…you really are a nasty piece of work theotherone…….

      2. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 12:45pm

        Excuse me? Winging?

I was trying to make a humorous point about the amount of Socially Liberal policies that the Tories are putting forward – it’s a joke paddy.

        1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 12:53pm

thats not how your comment came across…more like ” this can’t be the Conservative party i love” But if it’s a joke well… keep your day job, there deffo isn’t a career in comedy for you…..

          1. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 1:18pm

            Whatever paddy.

Now what user where you a sock puppet for again? Still a Racist bugger Paddy?

          2. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 4:27pm

repost your comment “whatever…..etc.. the comment makes no sense. Bar the fact that im a bugger…I am gay…are you?

          3. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:31pm

Why don’t you just go away Paddy – the site’s changed since you’ve been away – there’s no SMC for you to hurl racist insults at.

        2. Paddyswurds 8 Mar 2011, 6:26pm

…of course if you could spell one might have a clue as to what you are trying to say. Most of what you post is illiterate guff as usual. What is Winging by the way??…some new form of dogging or cottageing perhaps….Mystified in Seven Oaks.

  2. It’s great to see trans rights being advanced! :)

    1. Agreed… all steps towards equality are a step forward. Would have been good to read the response by an organisation representing transgender people to get an idea of how far these new guidelines will help those in prison and an opportunity for them to highlight any other concerns/issues affecting transgender people in prison.

  3. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 12:04pm

    for a change.

    The last government ignored them.

Interestingly the buzz is that this is all Ken Clark’s work and that a certain Lib Dem Equalities Firebrand wasn’t interested. Indeed the rumours are that May has had to take the promised formulation of a new set of laws specifically dealing with Trans Rights from her as she claimed she was ‘too busy with Gay Marriage.’

Looks good for Trans Rights if they are being aggressively pushed by more than one member of the Government.

  4. Helen Wilson 7 Mar 2011, 12:34pm

The press reports are fairly misleading. The prison service report:

  5. Helen Wilson 7 Mar 2011, 12:37pm

Oh and this was achieved because of ECHR ruling for a German prisoner. The government just don’t want to be on the wrong side of the ruling and forced to pay out compensation.

    1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 12:58pm

…who cares what the reason for doing it, its’s done so lets mark it up as another success and move on… gay marriage now…not that we need to lump in with the pixie in the sky crowd but for the equality in word and law….. the deed needn’t be acted upon.

      1. Helen Wilson 7 Mar 2011, 1:03pm

The thing is just about every advancement of trans rights has come from the European court rulings. No UK government has ever made life better for transgender people on its own.

        1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 1:21pm

….and? This is the UK ffs. They have always had to be dragged kicking and screaming through the courts in order to extract human rights. from slavery, womens suffrage to the Irish question, the ruling class’ hav always seen granting of basic rights as a diminishment of their powers……from James 1st rewriting of the bible fiction to the printing press….. Less the proles know the better.

        2. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 1:23pm

or for any Minority for that matter – well apart from Religious minorities that is.

          1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 1:39pm

…religion is a choice and a lifestyle and as such isn’t a human right. I as an atheist can’t claim that as a human right that should have state protection or priviledge. It is my choice as to whether i believe in fictional characters or not.

          2. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 3:14pm

You know paddy – you seem intent on misrepresenting everything I say.

It’s OK Paddy – no need to worry I’m not one of those Black People you showed you hated from out former exchanges.

  6. You want to see the Daily Mail’s take on this one. They did of course leave out the part that transgender people can wear gender appropriate clothing ‘at their own expense’.

How that rag isn’t sued daily I don’t know. People are put in jail for a lot less, classed as spreading hatred and violence to minorities, yet the columnists in the Daily Mail walk free to stick the knife into every known minority on a regular basis.

    1. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:20pm

I actually blogged the Daily Mail story yesterday so my friends could laugh at it.

    2. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 4:32pm

@ Red Devil can you post a link to this… i get quite a laugh from reading stories like this on the Daily Wail site. The adoption ban story and comments were hilarious if a tad sad.

      1. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:36pm

as far as I can remember you can’t post links here but the story is titled ‘Transsexual prisoners win right to wear dresses and padded bras behind bars’ which should help you find it.

  7. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 4:21pm

…That is an outrageous statement and to be honest is in keeping with what i’ve come to expect from you. I have never ever been racist to anyone or toward any race and i would appreciate if you could point me to where i made racist statement to you ” in former exchanges” or ro any one else…. This seems to be your thing when you are outgunned in debate you roll out the (false) racist card…. And so as you know , nowhere did i “misrepresent” anything you said… i post opinions on this site not whineing abuse of other peoples posts. Learn the art of debate no abuse. Thetherone.

    1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 4:23pm

    2. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:24pm

      Whatever paddy, whatever.

      You’re just a nasty troll.

      1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 4:37pm

I am serious about pointing me to comments where i was racist……. If anything its the kettle and pot that come to mind when i read your comments.
Like i said at the outset, and anyone with an ounce of decency will see i’m right … are one nasty piece of work and i will from now on ignore your illiterate bile!!.

        1. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:39pm

I reposted some of the things you said paddy but then you claimed they where not racist the fist time round so why would you agree they are now.

Are you not the Sock Puppet of someone in Brighton?

    3. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:33pm

what was it Paddy – that a black poster spoke ‘like a white person’? was trying to ‘live a white person’s life’ had a ‘big black ass?’

      1. theotherone 7 Mar 2011, 4:44pm

oh yes and there was the time you said to a Black poster that ‘someone like you [black that is] should vote Labour.’

Last time I checked making assumptions about a racial group was racist.

    1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 5:33pm

…..I always thought Ken Clarke was wasted in the Law and Justice Tory Party and now i’m sure of it. He certainly is the best leader the L&J Tories never had. What a pity, however he is the human and caring face of the L&J Tory party. Pity there aren’t more like him. The comments on the Daily Whinge story about this are as usual predictable but quite a laff if a tad sad at the same time. Have a read at the link above and have a good belly laugh. There are some really nasty and weird people in the Uk sadly. I’m glad i am Irish and not for the first time have i thought that. We here in the north of Ireland have our own government now and while it is far from perfect at least it’s not the Law & Justice Tory Party version.

      1. OrtharRrith 7 Mar 2011, 8:08pm

The Daily Hate Mail comments are only “a laff” if you are in any way connected to them. As usual they are bigotted and transphobic and far from funny in any form.
Being imprisoned is every trans-persons worst nightmare – well, excluding gang encounters at any rate – and yet Red Tops are able to wind the public up, encourage and fuel their hate. Sad? Yes. Scary? Very much so. It only takes one person to get very, very angry at what the papers such as the DHM tell them and then someone could very easily be hurt.
So I don’t laugh at the comments from Hate Mail readers.

        1. Paddyswurds 7 Mar 2011, 8:38pm

….@ OrtharRrith….sorry that came across wrong.. My amusement is at the unmitigated and ignorant homophobia of the majority of the posters, fuelled i suspect by adherence to the pixie in the sky Abrahamic cult myhtology most Daily Wail readers suffer from.. One has to laugh at these people otherwise one would go off the rails and perhaps do something silly at the frustration engendered by these non humans.

  8. Dear Pink News Readers

We are a young gay couple and after seeing the surge of gay related suicides last year and i ourselves having have entertained such thoughts preciously due to religious hatred and indocrination,we decided to invest in our skills to create a high quality video to inspire positive change change amongst LGBT youth and hopefully help in creating more posotive self reflection.I would sincerely like to apologize for the spam. Please watch

  9. Pity no comment from a trans organsation about this story.

  10. The number of imprisoned transsexuals is scary.

The article talks of 30 trans people in prison at any one time. With an estimate of 12,500 transsexual people in the uk [1], that means 0.25% imprisonment rate.

In contrast, with a total prison population of 95,000 [2], the total imprisonment rate is about 0.15%

If anything, this shows the amount of discrimination against trans people, forcing them into illegal activities.

[1] Who have seeked medial treatment, as per

    1. I don’t want to suggest that there is anything wrong with beign trans-sexual. This apparent over-representation of Transexual people could be due to the mental health issues which might occur in the run up to realising what is appropriate for a person – e.g. depression etc. Mental Health issues are heavily overrepresented in the prison population. It might also be because people self medicate to resolve their issues in a manner outside of standard means – this might draw them towards drug taking.

      I hope that makes sense.

      1. Gabby Newton 17 Aug 2011, 5:16pm

        @ Ian’
you already suggested it was wrong when you said you didnt want to suggest it!!
and for your information transsexuality is not a mental health problem but a proven medical problem
and how can trans people ever be overly represented ?
its more a case of us being mis-represented by media sterotyping

    2. Paddyswurds 8 Mar 2011, 12:09am

      …@ Lia…….( 1) “Who have seeked medial treatment…….”
      …..Who have sought medical treatment…….*

  11. I never get why Ken Clarke stays in the tory party, he should just quit and become a right wing lib dem.
This story shows why LGBT people need to support the ECHR.

  12. Well it looks like a bit of a disaster for as from my reading some trans women who have had genital surgery would be housed in a mens prison (you can have surgery before your allowed to apply for a gender recognition certificate and hence be legally female).
