Good luck to him. Someone need to start standing up in football and make a stand. It seems all other sports are starting to leave this game in the Dark Ages.

Considering that gays have no anti-discrimination protections in Turkey, he is in a VERY difficult position. As a Turk I wish him the best of luck from the bottom of my heart.

The Turkey accession to the EU is dependent on – amongst many other things, some more important – them satisfying the EU on equal treatment for gay people. So a lot hangs on how Turkey handles this case.

I would also be concerned about Turkish authorities handling of confidential data.
