Iain Canning, one of the four producers of The King’s Speech, gave credit to “boyfriend Ben” at the end of his acceptance speech.

He said: “To our acting royalty, Colin, Geoffrey, Helena, thank you so much for saying yes. To our amazing best of British crew, so amazing to share the stage with you tonight.

And to my parents, and to my boyfriend Ben, you help me everyday do what I do. Thank you.”

Canning appeared onstage alongside stars Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter, fellow producers Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, and director Tom Hooper.

The King’s Speech won best picture, best original screenplay, best actor for Colin Firth and best director for Tom Hooper.

Canning’s other films include Mary and Max (2009), Hunger (2008) and Control (2007).
