Yes, if only some other nations’ footballers could make similar noises, the climate for the first PFA member to come out would be easier and most importantly might have a chance of his team-mates being supportive when the pennies (and worse) get thrown from yobs in the crowds
not helped by FIFA handing out the world cup to rabidly homophobic countries like Qatar, (or Russia not much better come to think of it). Good on him though, German footballers in general seem fairly grown up about this..

Actually David James and Graeme Le saux have been quite outspoken on the issue. Enough with hating our country just for the sake of it.
Making a huge generalisation about ALL German footballers from just TWO, eh? What, do you mean to say you know as much about German footballers as you do British ones? Their private lives? Their antics? Opinions? Two have said something nice, so they must ALL be nice? Yet someone branding all gay men as being the same based just on Elton John and David Furnish…..you’d bea ll frothing at the mouth!

To be fair, it’s likely The Sun would love to have this idea before anybody else does. That paper knows no shame is stereotyping British gays and other nationalities. It’d probably run a picture of a gay footballer with a photoshopped pair of leather chaps on (with cut out butt cheeks) and a handlebar moustache under the heading ‘Don’t drop the ball – the British (gays) are cumming!’
