London charity Galop is offering a new drop-in service for LGBT people affected by hate crime, discrimination and domestic abuse.

The service will also offer LGBT people the chance to talk to a sexual abuse caseworker in confidence about incidents, whether recent or from childhood.

The drop-in service will be open between 3-4pm every Friday.

Visitors to the charity’s centre in Waterloo will be given a “safe space” to discuss concerns, plus advice about going to the police or finding safe housing.

Galop, which has been running for almost 30 years, said in a press release: “The police have made huge leaps forward in the way they deal with LGBT people, but things don’t always go the way they should.

“Galop can help put problems right with the police which could involve making a complaint. They can give you information about how it works and make a complaint on your behalf.”

The centre can be found at Lighthouse South in Waterloo, SE1 7RJ. For more information, see www.galop.org.uk.
