    Sound advise but I think the main problem for Everett and Chamberlain is they are just crap actors!

  2. Those of us who are out take these risks, what is so special about actors. I agree with Alan Cumming and it is as wrong to interfere in someone’s decision to come out as it is to out them without their consent (unless of course they are an anti gay legislator or preacher or homophobic rent a gob)

    Just how ‘bi’ is Alan? ‘Bi’ is a safer option than outing oneself as gay. Perhaps the issue with Alan was he had a history of sexual relationships with guys which was common knowledge so to sugar the pill he claims to be bi?

    @Louie Mince,

    or maybe he is just Bi,

    as you have shown maybe it is braver to be bi as it attracts negative comments from both sides.

  5. Indeed if you are ‘Bi’, you defintely end up taking flak from straight and GAY people. i know this from personal experience. Well done to alan cummings to being truthful about his sexuality.

    It is incredibly ignorant of you to doubt someone’s sexuality if they say they are bisexual.

    I’m male and I much prefer girls over boys.

    You have to understand that not everybody is completely straight or completely gay—some people look past gender and only go on love or attraction.

    Don’t want to gang up on him, but Louie’s comment sounds a lot like the stuff homophobes say to try and deny the existence of homosexuality.

  8. Hang on, I thought Alan cumming identifed himself as “pansexual” (whatever that actually means). Before that I thought he identifed himself as gay?
    I agree actually. It’s irresponsible because it sends out mixed messages and tells people they should hide something about themselves.
    But then his sexuality seems to be highly confusing and is also undoubtedly sending out some pretty mixed messages also.

  10. It’s all very well to take Cummings’ (admirable) line, but at present if you’re gay and want to be a lead Hollywood movie star, you can’t be out.

    It’ll take a number of brave souls who’re willing to risk their careers before one manages to change attitudes – if they’ll ever change, that is.
