We need to stop arguing pro or con. We need to all unite and fight to get government out of the marriage business. Google search government free marriage and come and join the cause. This can unite everyone.

its good to see this and really shows that not everyone is backwards in the USA

Amen Sarah Miller. The Gay Marriage issue is a complete smokescreen of a debate. The real issue is not whether one is pro/con gay marriage, but whether the government should be in the marriage licensing(permission giving) business. Google government free marriage and join in the effort to truly resolve this issue and bring all sides together by just getting government out. Government-Free Marriage, an idea who’s time has come.

  6. Meanwhile, we in the UK can’t get married in our own country. Instead, we have to leave and go to another country, return home and then face the added insult to injury when our government refuses to recognise it as a marriage. This MUST end, not later, but NOW. At least American gays don’t have to leave their country.

Sarah and Josh, I have to say that there’s no way that the campaign you are promoting would unite people! To give just one example, the loudest opponent of same-sex marriage here in Scotland is the Roman Catholic Church. They would of course be even more strongly opposed to a move to remove the concept of marriage from the law altogether as you propose!

An example from the other side of the campaign: personally I think your proposal is seriously flawed, and I’m an active equal marriage campaigner!

For people whose aim is marriage equality, rather than a far more radical overhaul of marriage law like your campaign, then simply opening up existing marriage and CP is the thing to go for.

Seven of the countries immediately surrounding the UK have already opened up marriage. It’s easy, not a big ask, and is supported by the majority of the population.

  8. Most of the episcopal (anglican) church in the USA supports gays, and they are working on an official marriage ceremony.

The presiding Bishop is a woman, while the first dioseces to leave was the only one in the USA that won’t ordain women. Just as the catholic church of the endless hidden molestation makes women 2nd class citizens of hte church.

The head Bishop of the LA dioscese is a woman who I think I have met
