Jerusalem Pride bomber sentenced to six months community service 13
1:51 PM — A district court in Jerusalem has sentenced a 35-year-old Michael Naky to six months community service for setting off a makeshift bomb to disrupt a gay pride march in the city in 2007. The judge gave the sentence after a plea bargain between the defence and the prosecution.

First Irish civil partnerships to take place in April 13
12:01 PM — Irish justice minister Dermot Ahern has signed a commencement order to bring civil partnerships into law. The ceremonies become legal on January 1st but as couples have to give three months' notice, the first civil partnerships will not take place until April 1st.

10:51 AM — Coalition ministers are said to be considering legal reforms to allow gay couples to marry. According to the Daily Telegraph, a government source said that potential reforms to open up both marriage and civil partnerships to all couples were “being discussed”.

3:45 PM — Two softball coaches in Texas are being sued for allegedly outing a lesbian student to her parents. The 18-year-old, named as SW in court filings, says the coaches at Kilgore Independent School District interrogated her aggressively and violated her privacy.

3:12 PM — Liberal Democrat MP Steve Gilbert has called for progress on UK marriage equality, saying he hopes legislation can be introduced by 2015. The openly gay MP said in the House of Commons this week that while parliament obtaining a civil partnership licence was "groundbreaking", allowing gay couples to wed would be more so.

4:49 PM — The Canadian province of Alberta still classifies homosexuality as a mental disorder, government records show. Between 1995 and 2004, doctors cited the diagnostic code more than 1,750 times when billing the province for treating gays and lesbians, the Vabcouver Sun reports.
