  1. Me and my partner get this from time to time…this is straight speculation about which one is the top, it shows dedicated curiosity and vicarious interest… though it’s none of their business.

  2. Hi Pavlos . . .

Do you think it also highlights how some heterosexuals lack imagination and creativity when it comes to their own sexuality.

Also, isn’t it curious how some heterosexual men seem to think that heterosexual sexual intercourse is purely about the domination of women . . . poor wifes

Is it no big surprise that most heterosexuals marriages end in divorce.

Yeah, it clearly shows their preoccupation with who does what in bed.. In their shortsighted and stunted view, there always has to be a ´wife´ and always a ´husband´.

Whilst this stupidity remains, we should all think twice about giving our money to any of the Murdoch enterprises.

More thought needs to be given to his BSkyB buyout and his ever-increasing stranglehold on the worlds media. The man has far too much power and influence.

  4. A comment recently in our local free press said and I quote, “Was it the truth or was it Murdoch’s news limited ? Why any thinking person still supports Murdoch’s balance sheet is beyond me.

  5. sadder and sadder…but at least these are hopefully the death rattles of the bigots,,,gay families are here to stay and will probably teach these scumbags a thing or 2 about responsible parenting.

  6. While Murdoch is a douche, it is the author of the article who should be excoriated. I’ve always been of the opinion that those who don’t have a clue about the topic shouldn’t write about it. It’s obvious that Mr. Li is extremely ignorant about the various configurations of relationships and should stick to reporting on last night’s police blotter.

Odd- I have read and heard in the Canadian the use of ‘ Sir Elton and his husband, David Furnish.’ Here, when two men marry they are usually proclaimed so as husbands, two women are proclaimed wives to one another, a man and a woman are announced as husband and wife.

The legal documentation is gender neutral and – depending on the province will say Person 1 and Person 2 – or A & B. Marrying couples may ask that the vows be changed to ‘partner’ and the like. But all the guys I have seen married and all the women I have seen married have gone for the ‘husbands’ or ‘wives’ words. We’re liberal but a bit traditional, I guess.

Personally, I think all this nomenclature based on sexual activity, parenting duties, household responsibilities and the like are so passé – almost mediaeval.

English is a creative language. Can’t we come up with something better?

That the Post printed this is not surprising. No one at any Murdoch media outlet is allowed to express any view beyond the 18th century.

  8. There are now four different stories about these two on the front page, and I don’t care about a single one of them. >.>

  9. If youre gay and have sky you’re a fool too. I refuse to have any murdoch crap in my house

  10. Sky is cool but this report is stupid, two men married means both are husbands

  11. sky is cool? yeah if your happy to support the sun and fox then you’re an idiot and helping to support your opression.

  12. Peter & Michael 30 Dec 2010, 1:56pm

We don’t support sky or their views either, if we are not careful, and sky dominates what we watch and what we read, we will be very much like the dominating media in Italy. One would have thought that there were more important happenings going on in the World than two guys having a surrogate child.

  13. Is it now all right for me to make comments about Murdoch’s chinky wife? I wonder if the NYP would publish such a comment. Are such inter-racial marriages now acceptable in the United States. Many residents there would not think so.

  14. Why does ‘Wife’ indicate they must be the bottom?
I know many str8 relationships where the woman is most certainly the one wearing the trousers…

At the end of the day, be it a CP or marriage, we will be compared to straights, so one will always get the husband/wife comparison. I don’t see it as homophobic, or even derogatory. I really wish gay people would stop taking offence to such trivial matters and just get on with their own lives.

  15. Spanner. I agree. The word ‘marraige’ always evokes a man/wife image, even when the couple is single sex.

  16. The sort of remark a homophobic drunk(with issues) may have made about thirty years ago. Sloppy, lazy journalism. Perhaps they can only think in terms of fixed gender roles?

  17. Keith Lynwood 30 Dec 2010, 10:41pm

Why does Spanner spend his whole day reading and commentong on gay issues in the pink news. Nobody is asking you to understand why some gay men would find the term wife when applied to them insulting. I keep seeing your homophobic stuff on here. Go away.

  18. Keith Lynwood:
Please elucidate on what part of my comment was homophobic?

I suspect that it is more the point that I do not hold the same rampant, left-wing political views as you, so I am branded a homophobe. Just because I am gay does not mean we have anything else in common.

  19. Keith you have to ignore the trolls they’re vermin feed them and they come back

  20. James: I’m sorry, but not everyone belongs to your Guardian reading little gay clique.

I have as much right to air my opinions on here as anyone else. If you don’t like that fact, go set up your own dreary blog somewhere else.

  21. Vo Dong Cung 2 Jan 2011, 5:36pm

The New York Post have only 1/1/2 eyes so they see Mr David as a lady

  22. They didn’t adopt! They gave birth via a surrogate: One of them is the biological father of their child and they remain intentionally ignorant as to which one of them it is!!

Even if you remove all the bigotry from the article it’s still wrong. Nice one NYP.
