Always good to finally see the raising of the head from the sand.

    It’s a start.

  2. about time and all!

  3. When I stood on a freezing sidewalk in Washington DC to witness the first African American take the office of President of the United States of America, I knew he would make me proud of that fact, and today he did. It has been a long walk to equality, and we have further to travel, but we have had some very good company on the journey. Today is a very good day.

  4. Honor, Integrity and Service. That’s what the repeal of DADT means. I am a 15 year USAF veteran and couldn’t be prouder.

short pause for congratulations. Then timely intervention

  6. Congratulations indeed.

So many of us had doubts about this ever happening.

    Sigh of releif.

  7. Damn right…gays should have the same right to go overseas and murder civilians as any heterosexual…..

“We are now stuck with sexual deviants serving openly in the U.S. military… If historians want a fixed marker pointing to the instant the United States sealed its own demise, they just found it.” – Bryan Fischer, American Family Association

“The American military… has now been hijacked and turned into a tool for imposing on the country a radical social agenda.” – Tony Perkins, Family Research Council.

“This action will be overturned in the next Congress.” – Matthew Staver, Freedom Federation

“The repeal of the ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ law is a disaster of historic proportions and it must be reinstated. My organization and others will to fight to make sure that happens.” – E. W. Jackson, Stand America PAC

These are the people who will have the ear of American leaders next year.

And this is no time to give up. give up.

  9. I put their rantings alongside of the ones below and say they are “faith based” homophobic and less than scum in a bucket of crap and should be called so. They have no understanding of truth or of history.

They will never turn back the advance to equality, NEVER.,

‘Interracial marriage runs counter to God’s plan:“Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he
separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.”
(Source: Virginia trial judge upholding conviction of Mildred and Richard Loving for interracial marriage, quoted in Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1, 3

“The amalgamation of the races is not only unnatural, but is always
productive of deplorable results. The purity of the public morals, the moral and physical development of both races, and the highest advancement of civilization . . . all require that [the races] should be kept distinctly separate, and that connections and alliances so unnatural should be prohibited by
positive law and subject to no evasion.” (Source: Dissenting California Supreme Court Justice objecting to that Court’s decision striking down a state law ban on interracial marriage in Perez_v. Lippold, 198 P.2d 17, 41 (1948), (Shenk, J. dissenting).

Persons wishing to enter into interracial marriages come from the “dregs of society.”

I’m afraid I think that Obama is a spineless liar who is having difficulty in facing up to his election promises.

He seems to only be have the man that gave such powerful, evocative speeches before running for president.
