Yes and I’m sure that 50 or so years ago having black servicemen was equally distracting. If the troops are that easily distracted, how on earth are they mentally fit to go to war anyway?
Can you imagine a straight marine being given orders on the battlefield and saying “oh, sorry I didn’t catch any of that I was too paranoid about whether the gay guy watching my back was staring at my butt”?
Newsflash to straight marines – if you’ve ever shared locker rooms or hostels with gay people in civilian life, you should be able to cope with it. The sky will not fall.
