2:40 PM — The jury in the case of a gay man killed in central London has retired to consider its verdict. Ian Baynham, 62, died 18 days after he was attacked in Trafalgar Square in September 2009.
US will seek to have gay protection measure returned to UN resolution 5
1:50 PM — The United States said on Friday that it would seek to have a reference to gays and lesbians returned to a UN resolution condemning violence. Last month, a UN vote removed mention of gays and lesbians from a resolution which condemns extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions and other killings.

1:14 PM — The apparent vandalism of 40 gay and lesbian books at a Harvard University library was an accident, a dean has said. The incident was apparently caused when a library worker accidentally knocked over a bottle of urine on a shelf.

11:08 AM — The secretary-general of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, has called for homosexuality to be decriminalised globally. Speaking last Friday on Human Rights Day, Mr Ban said that people were "not put on this planet to live in fear of their fellow human beings" and that human rights must trump cultural attitudes.
