Judge extends ban on Ugandan tabloid outing gays 6
6:20 PM — A Ugandan judge has extended a ban on a tabloid outing gay men and lesbians. Rolling Stone, which is no relation to the US magazine, has been publishing lists of people it identified as gay, plus their addresses and photographs.
Apple approves ‘anti-gay’ iPhone app 48
5:54 PM — Apple has approved an iPhone app which calls on users to sign up to a declaration against LGBT rights and gay marriage. The app is based on the Manhattan Declaration, a manifesto released in 2009 by Christian and Catholic leaders which rails against the "erosion" of marriage.
Study says daily HIV drug lowers infection in gay men
4:50 PM — A study indicates that a drug used to treat HIV after infection can also lower the risk of gay men becoming infected with the virus. The research, published this week in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that giving Truvada to gay men at high risk of HIV lowered their chances of acquiring the virus by 40 per cent.
Straight couple’s civil partnership application rejected 5
3:52 PM — A straight couple who were barred from having a civil partnership say they will fight the ban in court. Ian Goggin and Kristin Skarsholt, of Bristol, said they were disappointed to have been rejected by Bristol register office because they are straight but hope that their attempt would help change the law.
Teenage girls ‘kicked gay man as he lay unconscious’
3:05 PM — Two teenage girls taunted a gay man and then kicked him as he lay unconscious, a court has heard. Ruby Thomas and Rachel Burke are accusing of stamping and kicking Ian Baynham, a 63-year-old civil servant who died 18 days after he was knocked to the floor last September in Trafalgar Square.
Government asked to ensure national HIV strategy 11
2:31 PM — The National AIDS Trust is calling on the government to fulfil the UK's UN commitment and ensure that a national HIV strategy is in place from 2011. According to the charity, the current HIV and sexual health strategy expires next month.

Pentagon: No gay soldiers fired this month 2
10:46 AM — No US troops have been fired for being gay in the last month, the Pentagon has said. Last month, defence secretary Robert Gates tightened the rules on dismissals, placing the power to sack out gay troops in the hands of just three officials.
