Shocking, isn’t it? The legal system’s sense of justice never ceases to amaze me, especially when it’s about trans people. People like him should never be let out. But yet, we all know that doesn’t happen.
all murder sentences have to have a tariff, and the “whole life” tariff tends to be reserved for cop and child killers, so the 22 years is the least to be served.
The senence for the rape – indefinite – would mean that he would serve until thought no longer a riskm and that could be less than the 22 years.
I think we shouldn’t be too quick to condemn the judge
I remember studying law at college and doing my final paper on the rights of Trans-gender people in todays society. I was shocked to find that loop-holes in the law meant that a Trans person could be physically assaulted and a the aggressor could get away with it because it’d be classed as self-defense! I hope that’s changed now
