5:59 PM — A German theologian claims that homophobia in the Catholic Church is caused by gay priests who cannot be open about their sexuality. David Berger, an expert on St Thomas Aquinas and former publisher of a Catholic magazine, told a German publication that the Vatican needs to admit it has many gay clergy.

4:13 PM — Lord Mandelson has said he will not rule out a return to politics. The peer, who was considered the most powerful out gay man in Britain until Labour lost the general election, told Total Politics magazine that although he would not "sit by the telephone", he would not rule anything out.

3:22 PM — A man who killed a trans prostitute has been handed an indefinite jail sentence for the earlier rape of another woman. Neil McMillan, 43, of Brighton, has already been jailed for at least 22 years for the murder of Andrea Waddell, a trans woman.

2:58 PM — The Australian Green party is predicting that gay marriage will soon become law as a poll shows 57 per cent of the public are in favour of the change. Of the 37 per cent who were against the change, 16 per cent were opposed and 21 per cent were strongly opposed.
41 per cent of US trans people have attempted suicide 3
2:03 PM — A new survey of more than 7,000 trans people in the US says that 41 per cent have tried to kill themselves. The research, carried out by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, also found than 19 per cent had been refused medical care because of their trans status.

12:36 PM — A gay Saudi prince convicted of murdering his servant must pay his prosecution costs. Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud, 34, will have to pay more than £100,000 for the cost of his trial at the Old Bailey.
Straight Bristol couple next to demand a civil partnership 7
11:18 AM — A heterosexual couple from Bristol will attempt to get a civil partnership tomorrow morning. Ian Goggin and Kristin Skarsholt say the ban on straight civil partnerships is "unjust, discriminatory and offensive".

10:23 AM — Around 5,000 children at Islamic weekend schools are being taught homophobic and anti-semitic views, it has been claimed. According to a BBC Panorama investigation to be screened tonight, the Sharia law classes use textbooks which tell children that the penalty for gay sex is execution, that "Zionists" are plotting to take over the world for the Jews and the correct way to cut off the hands and feet of convicted thieves.
