    1:43 PM — A funeral home in Cologne, Germany, caters for gay people with a "sensitive" service and rainbow coffins. Königsfeld & Brandl is run by Thomas Brandl, 32, and Michael Königsfeld, 34, who themselves are a gay couple.

  • Poll finds gay people are coming out at a younger age 17

    The poll found that those under 18 were most likely to come out at the age of 15

    11:40 AM — A poll by gay rights charity Stonewall has found that the average age for gay and bisexual teenagers to come out is now 15. The online survey of 1,536 openly gay or bisexual people found that the age for coming out has steadily fallen over the last 20 years.

    11:06 AM — Elton John is to guest-edit a special edition of The Independent for World AIDS Day. The gay singer, who set up an HIV/AIDS charity in 1992, said he was looking forward to the chance of raising awareness of the issue.
