Kristian Digby, the 32-year-old BBC presenter, accidentally suffocated in a sex game, an inquest has heard.

Digby, who presented To Buy or Not To Buy and House Swap, was found dead at his home in east London on March 1st.

Walthamstowe crown court heard that he was found by a friend with a bin liner tied over his head.

A canister of ethyl chloride, taken to boost sexual pleasure, was found near his body.

He was found by his friend and tenant Asiya Rasheed after his boyfriend Jason Englebrecht became worried that he could not contact him.

No injuries were found on Digby’s body and there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol in his body, including the ethyl chloride.

His mother Paula Digby-Dubois said: “He was really happy with his career, he loved it and he was moving further upwards. He just loved what he was doing.”

The verdict was death by misadventure.

Digby came from a family of property directors.

He also presented That Gay Show on BBC Choice and appeared in Simon Fanshawe’s The Trouble with Gay Men in 2006.

Before turning to television presenting, Digby was a young film maker. As a teenager, he directed the short film, Words of Deception which eventually won him a junior BAFTA in 1997. In 1998 he won the Melbourne Film Festival Best Student Film with Last Train to Demise.
