3:00 PM — More than 18,000 people attended Africa's biggest Pride celebration in Johannesburg on Saturday, organisers said. The event in South Africa is the continent's largest gay celebration.

11:00 AM — The Indonesian information minister has been criticised for making anti-gay statements and jokes about AIDS on Twitter. Tifatul Sembiring, who is also a member of the National AIDS Commission, made the remarks shortly after Jakarta's gay film festival was disrupted by ant-gay protesters.

5:14 PM — Two trans women were attacked at a transgender conference in Sweden last night. The women, who were attending the third European Transgender Council in Malmo, received minor injuries in what police are treating as a transphobic assault.

Equality Act comes into force 15
11:27 AM — A range of new equality laws came into force today as the Equality Act was implemented. The change consolidates nine separate pieces of legislation into a single act, giving new anti-discrimination protections to a variety of people with "protected characteristics".
