12:21 PM — The Pentagon has warned gay US troops not to declare their sexual orientation just yet. Despite complying with a court order suspending the firings of gay troops, the Pentagon has said that soldiers who do come out while the law is uncertain may still face punishment.

4:49 PM — Eleven men have now been arrested in connection with an anti-gay attack in the Bronx, New York. Luis Garcia, 26, was arrested by New York police yesterday after a gay man, his brother and two teenage boys were attacked on October 3rd.
NY governor candidate Andrew Cuomo promises to legalise gay marriage 4
4:23 PM — Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic candidate for New York governor, says he will legalise gay marriage if elected. According to the New York Daily News, he told attendees at the Empire State Pride Agenda's Fall Dinner: “I don't want to be the governor who just proposes marriage equality."

London vigil against hate crime to be held next weekend
3:34 PM — After 10,000 people joined a vigil against hate crime in Trafalgar Square last October, organisers hope to turn it into an annual event. Last year's candle-lit vigil was held two weeks after 62-year-old gay man Ian Baynham died in hospital. He was kicked and punched in the square while on a night out.

2:22 PM — Bisexual singer Lady Gaga and lesbian TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres have been named in the top ten of a list of the world's 100 most powerful women. Forbes' 2010 list places the pair ahead of women such as House speaker Nancy Pelosi and US secretary of homeland security Janet Napolitano.

5:38 PM — The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is to be substantially reformed, the Cabinet Office said today. Today's shake-up of public bodies saw 192 quangos axed, with an estimated 10,000 staff expected to lose their jobs.

11:13 AM — An American trans woman is suing the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) because it only allows women who were "female at birth" to participate. Lana Lawless, 57 and of Palm Springs, California, completed her transition from male to female in 2005.
