Obama discusses DADT with gay groups 2
6:00 PM — US president Barack Obama had a brief meeting with gay rights groups yesterday over the ban on out gay soldiers. According to the Washington Post, the groups met the president and senior officials yesterday to discuss the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
Charges dropped against three men in New York ‘gay bashing’
5:26 PM — Three of the 11 men charged with an homophobic attack in New York have had the charges against them dropped. Bryan Almonte, 17, Steven Carabello, 17, and Brian Cepeda, 16, were cleared of any involvement in the October 3rd attack yesterday and were released from jail.

3:10 PM — Gay lobbying charity Stonewall says it will campaign for lesbian and gay couples to have civil marriages in the UK. The charity has come under pressure in recent months from several of its co-founders and other gay campaigners to widen its remit on the issue.

2:01 PM — Two of the couples involved in a new legal fight for marriage equality have spoken about why they want equal access to marriage and civil partnerships. The Equal Love campaign will see four gay couples and four straight couples attempt to register for ceremonies they are not entitled to.

11:50 AM — An ad for ice cream which showed two priests about to kiss has been banned after it was ruled offensive to Catholics. The Advertising Standards Authority said that the ad, for Antonio Federici ice cream, was likely to cause "serious offence".

10:58 AM — Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas has apologised after allegedly abusing a gay fan. Thomas, who plays Adam Barton in the soap, was in a MacDonald's in Leeds when Ricky Platts, 22, approached him to say hello.
