That’s hardly a denial from Ellen lewis!!

  2. Sometimes puppets can just be very good friends. I never thought I’d say those words. Just like with people though. I think it’s important to remind kids that friendships can be purely friendships.

  3. Well they do seem to have the odd spat but when you’ve been sharing a bed for that long it does look like more than a sleepover!

  4. I remember a few years ago, the reaction from the Sesame Street producers was to the effect of “…they’re felt puppets. They don’t even have legs.” Which was in response to the Joseph Chambers thing (or something similar). People can see sex in too many places. Anyway, I agree with Jim that it’s important to show that friendships don’t have to be sexy.

I loved this as a child – La Rue Sésame. I always knew these characters as “Ernest et Bart”.

And the others – Le Gros Oiseau (Big Bird) and “Kermit la grenouille”.

The American accents are so strange – hear the French ones here:

  6. .. Who cares, they’re puppets?

  7. Puppets or not, they have a right to privacy :)

Honestly, it looks like Bert is Ernie’s uncle or caretaker. They have a tremendous mental age gap.
But yeah, I’d like to see a gay character on Sesame Street.

Oh wow! I thought it was just the Americans who worried about goofy things like this. But now I see this “news” has made it to Europe as well. lol Good Lord! tsk. tsk. tsk.

HOW can a puppet be gay? First of all it is an inanimate object. Secondly the bottom half of the puppet is usually missing (no genitalia). Thirdly, WHO cares?!! lol

I remember the religious right making a big deal over the British children’s show “Teletubbies”. Remember that “outrage”? Although in the case of the Teletubbies at least there’s a real person inside the costume! haha. *rolls eyes*

Seriously, are these religious people THAT desperate? That they must now pick on puppets in order to promote their rabid homophobia? Jeez….

  10. I grew up with bert And ernie they are good friends sharing a place .
If u want to pick on some one pick on the telly tubbies tinkie winkie he is so gay he carrys a hand bag and speaks in that high pitch voice
