5:42 PM — The Obama administration has filed an emergency request asking the federal appeals court to suspend a court order lifting the ban on out gay military personnel.

5:22 PM — A Ugandan newspaper has published the names, addresses and photographs of the country's "top" gays and lesbians. Rolling Stone, which has no connection to the US magazine of the same name, had a banner across its front page which read "hang them".

3:25 PM — A gay Saudi prince has been sentenced to at least 20 years in prison for murdering his servant in a luxury London hotel. Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud beat and strangled Bandar Abdulaziz to death at the Landmark Hotel last February.

11:56 AM — Dan Choi, the out gay soldier who has been at the front of efforts to repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell, has re-enlisted in the US army. He was served with discharge papers last year after coming out on television.

11:41 AM — Irish Senator David Norris has revealed that he decided to stand for the presidency after a Facebook group urged him to. The 66-year-old is an independent senator known for his campaigning on gay rights.
Pentagon tells military to start accepting gays and lesbians 3
10:52 AM — The Pentagon has told US military recruiters to begin accepting out gays and lesbians. Last week, California-based US District Judge Virginia Phillips ruled that the gay ban must end immediately. Yesterday, she issued a final ruling refusing to stay her order while the government appeals.
