  1. Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei ARE guilty of a hate crime, no matter how you look at it. But they probably won’t be charged with one:

Congratulations, lawmakers. Once again, you’ve made a tragic situation even worse…

  2. Just to be clear, prosecutors have charged both the students with crimes which could get them up to 5 years in prison. Whether they will be convicted or a plea deal will be made is another issue. Btw, here in the US, this story is among the top stories on the news.

  3. Lets hope justice can be acheived for the family of Tyler Clementi.

Earlier reports on the BBC claimed that Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei who posted the video, could receive up to a 5 year jail sentance.

Lets hope this sentance is realised

  4. Dreadful behaviour if true. Certainly should be regarded as a hate crime.

It happens nearly 10 times a day in the USA – gay kids committing suicide, 3000 a year. And no one knows how many of the other 5000-6000 kids who commit suicide each year are secretly gay, or fear that if eg they can’t succeed with girls, there is nothing else to do except become gay. And to them that is a fate worse then death.

I had a kid like that. Fortunately, a good psychologist helped. I still have him, he is 37, married, very successful etc. And if there were only 10 str8 people left in the world, he’d certainly be one of them

The people who need to be punished are the churches that propagate this horrid mentality of hatred.

Why are we fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, when we could with one to 3 large bombs, take one of the prime sources of this horrible, every year a 9/11 of our children, off the face of the earth.

And send the Natzi Pope to the hell he deserves. Where he’d have lots of company.

And lets remember that Hitler apparently only killed two people withhis own hand. His workds killed 55 million.

This is very sad but i am glad to hear that the news are covering it. I would what Fox’s angle is? The newsreaders probably laughed.

It’s the tragic consequence of one of those Jackass stunts, very like this example in the film “American Pie”:

“Jim, meanwhile, attempts to pursue Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), an exchange student from (the former) Czechoslovakia. Stifler persuades him to set up a webcam in his room so that they can all watch it together. The plan suffers a hiccup, though, when Nadia discovers Jim’s pornography collection and sits half-naked on his bed to read it. Jim is persuaded to return to his room, where he joins Nadia, unaware that he accidentally sent the weblink to the entire school directory. As Nadia is preparing to have sex with him, he prematurely ejaculates twice, humiliating himself live in front of the entire school.”

  11. And then you get a comment in todays ‘Metro’ in London that a film is “kinda gay”. The homophobic press just fuel gay bullying with such comments.

  12. My heart goes out to this guy’s family. I can’t even begin to imagine how they must be feeling.

These loosers need to be shamed and prosecuted. It’s not even as if it can be classified as your typical teenage prank — setting up a remote-activated webcam in someone’s room?! What is harmless or fun-seeking about that? I’m at University, and people play pranks, but that is just plain malicious. And the fact that they then streamed the footage online?! Blatant hate crime, but they’re only being tried for invasion of privacy, right?

I’m guessing Tyler’s boyfriend (date) is receiving the therapy he needs to get through this himself.
