Interview: London Fashion Week DJ Kris Di Angelis

Illustrated rainbow pride flag on a white background.

DJ/producer and resident at some of the best gay (and straight) nights that London has to offer, Kris Di Angelis is a home-grown talent and scene favourite who always gets the crowd dancing and smiling with his superb mix of upbeat old and new music – with everything from classic disco to rare online remixes.

Recently, Kris has been moving crowds at his own pool party ‘Pooldisco’ at Shoreditch House, Caligula, Jodie Harsh’s Circus and arguably the UK’s coolest festival, Bestival.

Revelling in being selected as the official DJ for London Fashion Week on behalf of Sony Records, Kris played at the Fashion Arts Foundation launch event at Shoreditch House, at the official launch party for LFW on the 16th September and has been working like a maniac all week. We managed to ask him a few questions between records.

What’s it been like to be part of London Fashion Week?

Intensely exciting and knackering in equal measure. For me fashion week has involved going through everything Sony Records have ever released in order to choose what’s played at Somerset House, DJing at some seriously cool parties, modelling in two photo shoots, seeing my friends’ shows and trying to stay away from wheat. I’ve only failed miserably at one of those things…

How did it go?

It’s been brilliant, i think my favourite bit was rifling through Sony’s music collection. I discovered some absolutely incredible music and bands, some of which I’m now using in other projects. Could’ve done without having to lay on their floor while I was doing it though, but that’s where the CDs I wanted were.

What’s your favourite track right now?

Without a shadow of a doubt it’s William DeVaughn – Be Thankful For What You Got (Onur Engin Edit). I can’t stop playing it everywhere, if everyone heard that record things would be much better.
