Italian Protestants? All 4 of them?

    Good for them I suppose.

Although let’s not forget that backward Italy is now the ONLY western European country where same-sex relationships have absolutely zero legal recognition.

Hopefully this gesture by Italy’s 4 protestants will highlight this appalling situation.

I think the article said there are about 30000 of those people.

BTW in the USA the Methodists are a large protestant group and considered most conservative of the mainline Prot denominations (catholics are #2, evans #1, ex catholics (10 million effectively #3)

About a thousand Methodists ministers appealed to their national board to allow them to do gay marriage and some churches, eg about 6 around DC are doing them anyway, rules be damned.

Were making progress and RATZInger is solving the problem of the catholic church – hes so nuts he’s destroying it, as it has destroyed itself in Europe and its happening in south america also.

Actually this is not true. Since the summer of 2007 all civil partnerships/same sex marriages carried out in EU countries where same are permitted by law, are recoginised under Italian law and are capable of registration at the local town hall in just the same way as a straight marriage.

I wonder if they are worth the paper on which they are printed.

  3. They have one of these churches in Bedford too.

Its one of those things you need to take a second look at and read the sign again to make sure you read it right! :)

At lest they are trying to be inclusive.

Yeah, because NOTHING should guide our understanding of scripture like a 1655 proclamation!

What other church proclamations from 1655 are these people willing to cast their lot with? 1655 Women’s rights? 1655 Slavery laws? 1655 Morals proclamations? 1655 Scientific proclamations?

Why just go to 1655 when it comes to gays?

So same sex Italian couples have to leave Italy to get their relationships legally recognised 1st and then have to reapply for recognition once they get back home!

    Pathetic and offensive!

Simlar to Israel. The orthodox bible thumpers there control marriage.

they are human garbage, and btw I dont hate jews – my wife is jewish.

We should sell the orthodox to Putin to help him excavate the riches of siberia and make russia a wealthier nation.

whichc ould well help it out to become a real democracy

  6. I’m born and breed Italian and unfortunately Italy is very slow on changes, its a conservative, family oriented culture without forgetting is home of the Pope. Diversity is a difficult issue in Italy and it will take a long time for them to change. At least they are trying

  7. Ciao, as far as I know ‘grace’ has no gender; therefore, it is only logical that they should bless gender neutral marriages, furthermore, it takes all genders to help make the world a much better place, Fortuna

in late 2011 the methodists in the USA – a thousand of their ministers petitioned to allow them to do gay marriage.

The methodists are the most conservative of protestant denominaitons, except for the baptist / evangelists, most of whom are apparitions left over from our days of slavery and segregation – their contribution to humanity.
