    Unlike marriage, the individual States legislate in regard to same-sex adoption! This is to do with the state of New South Wales not Australia as a nation. Wrong parliament house as well- that is a photo of the Australian Parliament in Canberra.

    It passed the “ping-pong” stage (agreeing to each others 2 amendments in both houses).

    Now the Adoption Amendment (Same Sex Couples) Bill 2010 (No 2) passed both houses of parliament, it is now awaiting assent. She [the Governor] will sign it into law, this is the last piece of discrimination in NSW law – that has been finally abolished!!!!!

    Finally the Government has implemented the 1997 NSW Law Reform Commission recommendation to allow same sex couples to adopt children!!!!!
