I hope the Press Complaints Commission proactively takes notice and censors the Lincolnshire Echo for unnecessarily subjecting Ms Millington and her property to potential transphobic attack by callously having published her place of residence in their 2010-08-19 article…

  2. Beat me to it, Brenda!
Why is this company not even named in the article? Anyone know who they are?

  3. I thought it was a requirement that trans people lived as their adopted sex for a year before they had the op. So this person would have had no choice but to dress as a woman.

  4. The Lincolnshire Echo is owned by Northcliffe Media (Daily Mail), so we shouldn’t expect anything else. You can try and comment on the story, but they’ll probably remove it.

  5. I read comments in the echo pretty nasty stuff I hope she has somewhere
safe stay tonight. you can’t trust journos

  6. I hope there are laws to be respected and somebody that enforces them immediately.

    Hi Rachel Millington
I too am Transsexual and a support worker for mental health & learning disabilities.
I had no trouble with my employers with my transition. You need to tell them about Diversity & equality.
Then find a company that promotes Diversity & equality, like Home Ltd
    All the best to you

Disgraceful actions from her employer , she has to live for a woman for a year I understand and her employer should be doing it all it can to help her.

  9. Rachel, if you read this site, I wish you well and hope that you win your case. Trans is complicated for most people to get their heads around – I only just got my head around it after speaking with Trans people on pinknews.
And you should move to Manc, I’ve never seen as many Trans women in my life – so it must be okay here?

  10. Just to be clear, if you have gender reassignment in England, on the NHS, they insist you live in your ‘new’ gender role for 2 years not 1. Pretty much the only public health service in the world to do so – everywhere else the protocol is 1 year.

It sounds like Rachel has a cast iron case, as long as she is prudent with how she handles this story and does not let the media mess it up for her. No-one can be sacked ‘out of the blue’, other than for things like gross misconduct. This sounds like good ole fashion’d transphobic discrimination – illegal.
